Parenting

We both put a lot of thought into starting a family. We didn't want to have a child just because it was what was expected of us. We did a lot of soul searching to make sure that we weren't having a child for selfish reasons. Our hidden blessing has been that we haven't been able to conceive a child. We have worked very hard trying, and during these long months of waiting we have grown stronger in our marriage and firm in our belief that we have so much to offer a child. We will be able to provide not only financial stability, but so much more. We will provide unconditional love, structure, and guidance. We both have college degrees and value the importance of higher education and training. We have financially planned to allow for this opportunity for a child. We hope to raise your child to feel loved and secure, to know of your decision that he/she become part of our family, to be happy and confident, to value not monetary things but the true treasures in life, to be respectful and kind, and to feel responsible for themselves as well as the welfare of others.

Leisure Time

When we have some leisure time that we aren't spending with family, we enjoy a variety of activities. We like taking road day trips to explore historical and scenic places of interest. This was something Todd often did with his family as a child and looks forward to carrying on the tradition with his own family. We spend time working on home improvement projects and are quite proud of our efforts. Donna draws from her childhood on the farm when she gardens and landscapes while Todd hones his carpentry skills building doggie toyboxes or refurbishing matching rocking chairs. Maybe one day he will work on a baby-bear-sized rocker........ On summer evenings, we play a friendly game of golf or just watch the neighborhood children ride their bikes. Many winter evenings are spent curled up reading a good book while scratching a kitty's ears or rubbing a puppy's tummy. Anytime--hot or cold, rain or shine-- is a great time to take a walk with the dogs around the neighborhood.

We look forward to sharing our lives with your chid. We will take hikes with the dogs, share picnics by the pond, and catch sand crabs at the beach. We will watch baby birds and squirrels in our yard, eat sweet, ripe peaches from our trees, and plant pumpkins to carve in the fall. We will spend quiet time reading books and singing lullabies. There will be pockets filled with pebbles, shells, and arrowheads. There will be jars filled with tadpoles and fireflies. Mom, dad, grandmas, grandpas, aunts and uncles will be cheering from the stands and audiences at all the recitals, games, and concerts. Our home will be filled with the love and laughter of our family and friends.

Family Pets

Out on a Snowy Winter Hike with Sugar Rae and Shiner

Our little family already has a few kids--the furry kind! We have two cats, a coal-black boy named Kitty Bumpkiss, and a stubby-tailed little white and black Manx named Bessie. Bumpie enjoys stalking chipmunks; luckily he isn't very good at it. Bessie enjoys napping in the sun and watching the goldfish in the pond. Our two biggest babies are the boxers, Sugar Rae and Shiner. We did our research and selected this breed due to its patience with children and devotion to its family. We wish you could see how crazy they are for kids. It is like it is their soul purpose in life to love, play, and watch over their child. We really love our pets. We do all we can to give them as much happiness as they have brought into our lives. They are giving us some practice for when we become parents to a "real" baby. Our pets are so important to us. They teach us every day about unconditional love. They are there to comfort us when we are sad, soothe us when we are sick, comfort us when we are fearful, and share with us our joy.
