What Has Shaped Who We Are
We feel blessed in many ways. Both of us come from extremely loving and supportive families. We have several close friends and live in a nice area. We really appreciate all that we have. Most importantly, we're so thankful to be able to share these things together. We can't imagine life without each other! It has taken persistence and dedication for us to make it where we are today. We've been guided by the strong values that were instilled in us by our parents. We're thankful for the challenges we've faced together. We know our struggles with infertility made us even closer and more grounded as a couple. We've come to live by the phrase that most everything happens for a reason. We learned at a young age what's really important in life--to be surrounded by the love of family and friends. We promise your child will be deeply loved by us and so many others! We will always celebrate you and give thanks for how our lives are being wonderfully shaped because of adoption.
Our Adoption Experience
Nathan is our son adopted at birth in March of 2006. From the moment we met Nathan's birth mother, we loved her and felt it was meant to be. We think of his birth parents every day and are eternally grateful! We always look forward to sending them pictures and letters to share his progress and show how happy we are as a family. Nathan’s birth parents will ALWAYS hold a special place within us. They will forever be our angels on earth that gave us the greatest gift possible. Nathan is the light of our lives and makes everything more fun and exciting. His belly laughs and big grins are contagious. He's very easy-going and he'll be a wonderful big brother! Your child would be able to share their adoption story with an older brother who was also adopted. Our hope is that Nathan and his new brother or sister will be close in age to share life's experiences. Having a close sibling can be one of the best preparations for the real world as an adult. Nathan will set a good example for your child. We can hardly wait for our family of three to be a happy and complete family of four!
Each adoption experience is unique. Your child will always know about their unique adoption. We’ll support them, offer reassurance, and help them feel comfortable with their story on an age-appropriate basis. We'll tell your child that you chose adoption, the ultimate act of love, to ensure they have a life filled with more opportunities and everything you believe your child deserves.
What We Like To Do for Fun
Always Up for Adventure
We're as down to earth as it gets! We like to stay active and try new things. Whether it's a spontaneous outing or a planned vacation, we're always up for adventure. When traveling, we try to find the local hot spots and experience something unique. Our favorite vacation was in St. Lucia where we spent one of the days horseback riding by the ocean. In our home state of North Carolina, both the beach and mountains are a short drive away.
While we like to travel, we’re content to be at home. Our parenting responsibilities are the most important, cherished and rewarding parts of our lives. Aside from our parenting roles, Amy enjoys reading and doing the little things that make our home comfy and inviting. Alan likes to work his magic on the grill and take on new landscaping projects. We both like to keep our home updated with improvements. Both of us are outdoorsy people. We have a huge lake nearby where we like to go hiking. Every night after dinner, we go on a family walk with our dogs. Also, we both like sports. We're happy watching sports at home or sometimes we’ll grab tickets and go to a game with friends. It's even more fun when we're not cheering for the same team! We also like to try out new restaurants or watch a good movie at home. Our time together as a family is what we enjoy most in life! We're ready to expand our family and share in what your child likes to do!
