How We Met
We met in college and were good friends for more than 10 years before dating. We had the same circle of friends and saw each other often. We even rented summer houses together with our friends for many years. Careers & graduate schools caused us to drift apart for a while until Nancy decided to look Tony up one day to see how he was doing. Nancy sent an email and the rest is history. We started going to movies and out to dinner and we eventually fell in love. Many of our friends and family saw the beginnings of our falling in love before we did! We believe that our basis of friendship makes our marriage that much stronger. We have many common interests and view the world (values, politics, finances, etc.) very much the same.
Family Traditions
Our biggest tradition is at Christmas time. We spend Christmas Eve with Tony's family and Christmas Day with Nancy's family. For Christmas Eve, we always head to Tony's parents house, which is filled with aunts, uncles and cousins. Every year Tony's father makes a big seafood salad and his special stuffed Christmas pizza. They both are like nothing you've ever tasted. He is a fantastic cook. After dinner, but before dessert, we open gifts. It's always a late night, but we have lots of fun. Then on Christmas Day, we get together with Nancy's family. Nancy's family rotates who hosts the day, so one year we are at our home and the next we are at one of Nancy's brother's homes. The day is filled with lots of family members and we spend a good amount of time opening gifts. The tradition is that only one person opens a gift at a time. Much thought and time is spent on buying gifts for each other, so that is how we all show our appreciation and thankfulness.
Vacation Spots
Fishing at Nancy’s Mom’s House
Vacations are what we are all about! We work very hard but then take advantage of spending time relaxing. Nancy's mother owns a vacation house on the water and we visit as often as possible. Boating, swimming, fishing, crabbing, water-skiing, bike riding and good eating are all part of the fun. We also take an annual vacation with Tony's family to the beach. We spend the days swimming in the ocean, building sand castles and just enjoying the time together as a family. Our other favorite vacation is taking a cruise. We have gone as a couple and also with extended family. We enjoy the cruises because the only decision to make is "what to do next"! Most recently we enjoyed a cruise with our extended family (22 in all) and had a wonderful time being together and relaxing.
