As adoptive parents, we understand the responsibilities we have not only as parents to our children, but to their birthparents as well. We believe that it is important to be open and honest with your child regarding his/her adoption. We are patient and loving, and will be especially so when answering your child's questions regarding adoption.

How Adoption has Affected Our Lives

Adopting has been the best thing we’ve ever done! It has been so much fun to see our son discover the world, and he has given us the opportunity to re-experience the newness of life. He has reminded us of all the things we learn as we grow, learning to use our voices to communicate and imitate all the sounds animals make, to finding his balance so he can walk and run. We knew adopting a child would be wonderful, but we had no idea that it would be this much fun. Family is the center of our world, and he has brought so much joy to our lives as well as his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousines. We communicate with his birth mom regularly, sending pictures and letters and even the occasional video clip. We would like to have two children, ideally close together in age so that they can grow up together, sharing a close bond with a sibling. We are so excited to welcome another child into our lives, and we would very much like it to be your child.

What it Means to Be Parents and Our Strengths

Like any parent, we want your child to have the best possible future, and that means teaching values that we believe will carry him/her through life, healthy and happy. These values include:

* Developing a relationship with God
* Earning the things you have and that not all things come easily
* Learning to see the positive and humorous side of life, no matter what difficulties we face
* Being respectful to others and knowing the differences between right and wrong

We believe these values will build confidence, character, and faith; help in getting along with others; and provide stability and independence.

Secondly, we would like to provide a home that is your child's safe place, an unconditionally secure environment. We hope to instill a trust in us that he/she can always come to us to work through problems, for encouragement, and for support. Our home is a place of love, for each other and our children.

We want to help your child learn how to have fun. We aren't ones for television and video games, but instead opt for one-on-one play. We would so enjoy helping your child discover the wonders of the outdoor world from roly-poly bugs to four-leaf clovers. Some people never really learn to enjoy life and all of the basic beauty that surrounds us. We don't sweat the small stuff.

What We Do for Fun

Successful Fishing Trip

We find ourselves many evenings sitting and watching our son explore the world. He provides most of our entertainment. We also love to fly fish and have fished and floated many of the rivers in the region. We also like to downhill ski and have been doing so for many years-powder days are so much fun! Camping and backpacking with family and friends are also favorite activities. Some of the best conversations in life are had sitting around a camp fire with loved ones, eating food cooked over an open fire, and telling stories and jokes into the night.

We are very active people, and yet we really enjoy quiet times, too. Friends are often over for a casual BBQ and conversation. We also enjoy time together, sitting on our deck, reading, and counting the stars on summer nights. A favorite summer treat is a trip to Dairy Queen for Blizzards!
