Being a parent for us means to nurture and teach a child to become a healthy and happy adult. We both are very loving to each other as well as to everything we do in our lives. We have strong family values that we want to pass onto the child. Our love for each other and for life is so full that to share and build our lives with a child seems to us to be a natural step.

Claudia loves to share her childhood memories with everybody around her. For this reason Claudia feels she wants to give the child the same love, dedication, values and respect she learned from her parents. Every day of Claudia's life, working and sharing with her friends she sees that her parents did a great job with us. Claudia has no words to describe her love for a child and desires to give the best tenderness and care just like that she received from her family. For this reason we agreed Claudia would stay at home as soon as the baby comes.

Our strengths as parents will be in our differences. We grew up in different cultures, which means we will have more to share. Even with those differences we are still a lot alike because we both have strong family bonds as well as our values. We feel with a strong loving family any child, no matter what differences they have from us will grow to be happy and love life as much as we do.

We visit Colombia every year, Richard was nervous at first but now it is his favorite place to go. We always have 2 or 3 extra suitcases filled with gifts for my family as well as clothes for needy people there. We return with the suitcases full of gifts and souvenirs for our family and friends in the states.

As soon as we get there everything is taken care of. Claudia's parents and brothers meet us at the airport and take us for a much missed authentic Colombian dinner. Richard has grown to really love Colombian food and Claudia is not sure which one of us looks forward to the food more. Then as soon as we get to Claudia's parents' home there is a beautiful arrangement of flowers welcoming us back home.

After a few days in the city we go to the family weekend house in the mountains. It is very beautiful and peaceful. We love the hammock that is built for 2 and we spend many hours rocking and talking about our future and hopes for a family. This time connecting with Claudia's family is very precious for both of us.

After all our efforts trying to get pregnant we rescued SPARKY, from a shelter.

Sparky has become a great joy in our lives. We take him on our trips and our travel decisions are made only with places that allow pets. We love to take him for long walks in the park where he meets his friends.

Both of us love to take care of him. Claudia always wants to spoil him by buying him raincoats and every toy he chooses from the pet store. He is very affectionate and well trained. The children love to play with him and he is always ready to play. Everybody who meets SPARKY thinks that he is the cutest dog around the neighborhood.

Sparky has crooked lower teeth and jumps very high like a circus dog when he is exited. He loves people and will snuggle with anyone who lets him.
