How Adoption Has Affected Us Personally

We adopted our son, Seth, in March 2005. We can't describe what a blessing this adoption has been and all that it has brought into our lives. We are thankful each day for the wonderful gift of adoption, for if it weren't so, we would be missing so much in our lives. Every time we see him smile, we can't help but do the same. As he goes through these baby stages, we find ourselves saying "If only he would stay just like how he is right now", then the next stage comes and it's only better than the one before. It has been a learning experience for us, and we are continually growing and are starstruck at what a delight parenthood really is. We would not be able to be parents, to be who we are today, to love a child unconditionally without this selfless sacrifice of others. We continue to send pictures and letters to Seth's birthmom and hope and pray she feels peace and comfort in knowing that her courageous decision made our lives truly blessed beyond all measure. The happiness that fills our hearts and home are unexplainable and we wish to nurture, love and cherish another child again through the power of adoption.

What We’ll Tell the Child About Their Adoption

We will be completely open and honest with your child’s adoption. While he/she is young, we will introduce adoption in simple terms with the use of children books that relate adoption in a child’s terms. Then we will incorporate their adoption story and gradually explain how they became a part of our family. As they grow, we will become more and more specific. We will always encourage any questions they may have and answer them to the best of our knowledge. He/she will know that your unselfish love and courage is what made us a family. It's our goal to ensure your child feels comfortable and secure with fact that our family was built through the gift of adoption. Your child will know your adoption plan was out of love and a desire for them to have the best life possible. We truly believe things happen for a reason at just the right time. Our infertility was not a curse, it was a blessing. Our trials led us on our journey of adoption and has made us the family we were meant to be. It is evident everyday that Seth was meant to be our son. We have faith that a precious baby awaits us from birthparents who will make our family complete and give us the opportunity to welcome another perfect addition to our family.

Our Son Seth and His “Best Friend”

Best Friends
Seth is an active, happy, outgoing 2 ˝ year old. He is our focus and our world. He has brought so much into our lives; we just don't feel we can explain it. To watch him grow and develop and to see things through the eyes of child is amazing. We are easily amused and excited over the little things again. He is very compassionate, giving hugs and kisses to everyone, making sure not to leave anyone out. We have enrolled him in Baby Splash and Kindermusic classes. This fall we will continue with a Tumbler Tots class, he is defiantly interested in running and jumping around. He learns, grows socially and has fun all at the same time. We love watching him interact with other children! We wish to share these activities with another child as well. As they grow, we will continue to support and encourage them in whatever interest and activities they choose. Abby is our 6 year old boxer, and it's clear to see, Seth regards her as his "best friend"! Whether we have just left the house, have been away for six hours or five days, we guarantee that we have heard "Go home and see Abby?" several times. When we return home, we hear squeals of laughter echo through our house as they chase each around as if it's been forever since they have seen each another. We laugh every time! Abby's sweet and gentle disposition makes her excellent around people young or old!
