How We Met

Written by Kevin: I guess you could say it was the clown in us that brought us together, literally. At the time I was entertaining full time and I needed a clown for a special event I was involved with and I found Gail. More ironic our first meeting was at McDonald's and Gail received an autographed picture of my clown character signed love Spec. Little did Gail know Spec and Kevin were on the same page as I thought she was as striking as sweet.

Just as strange as her picture that said Love Spec was the way she admitted we were a couple. We had been dating a couple of months when a young boy asked Gail's character Windy if she had a boyfriend and it was her character that first admitted our relationship. Through our passion for entertaining and working with kids we continued to grow our relationship over the next two years, including a four month stint with a circus where we were a featured clown act and Kevin served as ringmaster for a few performances.

But it wasn't just the clown Gail fell in love with, it was also the cowboy inside. Gail loved seeing Kevin, with his boots, wranglers and hat. You see Kevin had been a rodeo clown and his costuming often showed his western ways. In fact Gail will tell you that one of the special moments early on was when we were in Atlantic City and a little boy yelled out grandpa look it's a real cowboy and Kevin took the time to stop and talk with him and giving the child his Dodge Rodeo decal from his hat.

Only fittingly, when we married, we included the song "Send in the Clowns" as part of our ceremony.

How Adoption Has Affected Us Personally

Adoption has affected our family, as both Kevin and his brother were adopted. This has been a real blessing as we began the process, as Kevin's parents were very open to discussing the process. They have also helped us to understand that it's a true blessing to have a child and see them grow no matter the child's biological make-up. Their knowledge of adoption has also been a great benefit from the standpoint of how we should share the child's heritage. Kevin's firsthand knowledge will allow him be able to relate with them and help to answer questions they might have. However, Kevin's parents aren't the only ones supportive of our decision as Gail's mom loves the idea of a grandchild.

Our Favorite Vacation Spots

Enjoying a Few Minutes with Sled Dogs in Breckenridge

This is a twofold answer with both being great places to share with children. Our favorite places are Disney World and skiing in Colorado. For both of us Disney has been a place we grew fond of at an early age with our family and today we make at least one trip a year. Disney offers so much from the rides to its sister parks (Disney Hollywood, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom) which contain both rides, educational shows and exhibits. During our stay we usually take on day and drive to Daytona Beach and spend time visiting local attractions. Kevin guesses the real reason Gail loves Disney so much though is her first kiss was from Goofy and her true love is Mickey Mouse.

As for Colorado we try to take a trip to the Breckenridge area once every year or two skiing. We love to spend time on the slopes, touring the little towns and chasing after Big Horn Sheep and Elk. Gail also says this is a great place to relax by the fire and read a book.

Both of these locations will be even more enjoyable once we have a child. The smiles on their face when they see Mickey Mouse or learn to stand on skies will be as memorable, if not more so, than Goofy giving Gail her first kiss.
