Our number one goal is to provide your child with the same safe, secure environment and teaching we received as children. We were both raised in Christian homes and will work hard to teach your child Christian values such as respect, truth, honesty, and the golden rule (Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.). Our family taught us the importance of education and we will supply your child with a good education. We are not perfect people, but will do our very best to raise your child to become a healthy, happy, and confident individual.

Our Lifestyle

In these few words we want to inform you of our Amish lifestyle. First of all, we will try to explain why we use a horse and buggy as our main source of transportation. We feel it slows down the fast pace of life. In our case, if we both had cars, Mark would probably go golfing every weekend and Sharon would go shopping. We do not believe that using a car or owning a car is wrong in any way. Mark owned a car during our dating years, but we decided that we wanted a slower pace of life so he sold his car and we joined the Amish church.

Next, we will try to explain why we don't have TV's. We feel our time is better spent singing and reading together. We receive a daily newspaper to update us on the news and weather. We do own a telephone. Our lights and utilities are powered by natural gas. We also have some utilities powered by solar.

Our church services are every other Sunday. This allows in between Sundays to be spent visiting other Amish churches.

We feel our slower pace of life allows more family time. Some of the TV shows about the Amish have been very misleading as to who we are and what we believe. Hopefully, this will answer some of your questions about the Amish. If you have any other question we will be happy to answer them.

Family Traditions

We both come from families that cherish traditions. Christmas is one of the most memorable and special times for both our families. Mark's family gets together every Christmas to exchange gifts and play games. During the Christmas season they go visit the sick and elderly in hopes of bringing them Christmas cheer. His Mom always has a big stack of gifts for the grandchildren. She is looking forward to another grandbaby to spoil. Another fun tradition is when his Dads family gets together for their annual pig roast and volleyball games.

On Sharon's side of the family the women start the Christmas season off by getting together to bake cookies to give to poor and elderly people. They also make party mix and chocolate candy. On Christmas Eve the whole family gets together for an overnight stay which includes the gift exchange and lots of food and games. They also go Christmas caroling with friends every year. Another fun time of the year is their annual camping trip.

We value our family traditions and look forward to making new ones with your baby so that he/she has many precious memories to last a lifetime.

Our Leisure Time

Mark Having Fun with Eddie, Our Horse and Duke, Our Dog

Our free time together is spent singing, reading, or sitting around the campfire in our backyard roasting hot dogs and marshmallows while chatting about the day's events. We also like getting together with friends for dinner and games or a night out to eat. Mark is always hungry for the Ultimate Feast at Red Lobster and Sharon enjoys the Jack Daniels Chicken at TGI Fridays.

Apart from one another, Mark spends a lot of time grooming and driving his horse. He also enjoys shooting hoops and playing fetch with our dog, Duke. Sharon likes to cuddle up in an easy chair to read a good book. She also enjoys taking Duke on long walks and her weekly ladies night out.
