Dave: Courtney is the most honest and genuine person I know. There are absolutely no false airs about her. I actually like how she is often quiet and shy around people she doesn't know, which is great for balancing out my 'extrovert' behavior. But once you get to know her, you will find no truer friend than Courtney. Courtney is detail-oriented and very organized, which means that she is able to remember family member's birthdays and keep the house running. Courtney is patient and loyal and keeps in touch with many friends from high school and college days. I feel like I won life's lottery by marrying her.

Courtney: Dave is a lot of fun to be around and is very easy to talk to. I really value the respect he feels for me. I think Dave is the most morally upstanding person that I have ever met. I have never seen Dave put on any pretenses. He is completely comfortable with himself and is always true to himself. David is a really patient guy. While others may get confrontational and tense in uncomfortable situations, he has the ability to remain calm and examine the situation calmly and rationally. But most people would categorize David's personality as friendly and very outgoing. He gets his energy by being around people and he absolutely loves children. He adores his nieces and nephew, and would rather spend time with kids than just about anything else. But if you were to ask David, he would tell you that his ethics, moral foundation, and devotion to his wife and family are the traits that he's most proud of.

One of our favorite traditions occurs in the dead of winter when we take time off to visit Courtney's parents at their winter get-away in Florida. It's often not just the two of us: Courtney's siblings and cousins often make the visit at the same time. We savor the opportunity to forget about work and relax with the family.

But our favorite time of the year is the holiday season which we spend with our families - trading on and off between Dave's family in Colorado and Courtney's family on the East Coast. We always have huge meals - eating more than we probably should, but balance it out by taking a walk after dinner and before dessert. Of course, the highlights are opening Christmas presents one person at a time, and playing silly games as a family. Overall, it's a time to relax and to enjoy spending time with the people that we love the most.

David loves to garden. He could spend all day tinkering around the yard making sure that all of the plants, shrubs, and lawn are perfect. And in keeping with the 'nature' theme, he loves to hike in the mountains as well. When he can't get outside, he likes working on the house with Courtney, spending time with friends, and relax in front of the TV with his favorite video games.

Courtney loves to read and is always looking for good, entertaining books. For exercise, she does yoga a couple of days a week. She also loves to sail, after taking lessons a few years ago.
