Why We Have Chosen Adoption

We knew even before we were married that we wanted a family. We both love kids, so there was never a question as to if we would have children. When we had been married for about three years, we decided that we were ready to start our family; but things didn't go exactly as we planned. We were never able to conceive. Our doctor recommended several infertility treatments, but we did not travel that path very extensively. We truly felt that the Lord's desire for our family was adoption, so we adopted our daughter Cassidy in 2001. After experiencing adoption once, we wouldn't have it any other way! It really is a beautiful way to grow your family! We believe with all of our hearts that the Lord had Cassidy and our next child picked out for us since time began. We're so thankful for selfless, caring people such as you. If it weren't for you and others like you, we would not be blessed with children. Now we long for another child and look forward to the day that the Lord blesses again!

We Love to Have Fun as a Family!

Whether we're hanging out with family and friends, playing at the park, watching a movie, going to Southern Gospel concerts, or just playing games on the family room floor at home - we enjoy being together.

Holiday celebrations are definitely an exciting part of our lives. We enjoy Easter egg hunts; Fourth of July picnics and fireworks; our annual Halloween costume party; our big Thanksgiving Dinner with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins; and Christmas, of course. Christmas is an especially big deal in our family. The fun starts the day after Thanksgiving and doesn't end until New Year's!

One of our favorite things to do as a family is to travel! There's nothing like hitting the highway to make your stresses seem to disappear - at least for a few days! Although we don't usually go on extravagant vacations, we often find time to steal away for at least a little while. Some things we really like to do in our travels are find new children's museums, visit big cities like Chicago and New York, hit water parks, and visit family in Georgia and Florida. But without a doubt, our favorite vacation spot is Branson, Missouri. We especially love the old fashioned atmosphere of Silver Dollar City and the music and comedy shows in town. Maybe one reason we love Branson so much is that we've been going since we were children ourselves. We now have Cassidy hooked and can't wait to take the new baby, too! We look forward to building lots of new memories in the years to come!

How Adoption Has Affected Our Lives

Our Annual Adoption Celebration Picnic

The greatest gift we have ever received is the gift of our daughter, Cassidy. She is a beautiful, bright, compassionate, and outgoing little girl. Because of her Caucasian/Hispanic heritage she has big brown eyes and gorgeous skin. We began telling Cassidy her adoption story when she was just a baby. She has recently started asking us more questions about her adoption and it has been a pleasure to be able to share with her some of the things that we know about her birthparents, their love for her, and how they came to the loving and selfless decision to make an adoption plan. She understands that her birthparents loved her very much but were not able to care for her in the way that they knew would be best so they asked us to be her mommy and daddy. She told Carrie recently, "I'm so glad my birth mommy picked you!"

Cassidy has been praying for a baby brother or sister since she was about three years old. As a matter of fact, she has most everyone she knows praying that we'll get a baby soon! She knows of our plans to adopt another child, and she is thrilled!

We have been abundantly blessed in that we have six close family friends who have also adopted. It has been such a joy to be able to experience this awesome journey with others that we love and care about so much and to share in each other's happiness as a new little one is added to our family of friends. We take time each fall to have an "Adoption Picnic" so that we can all get together at one time. What fun!
