Our Adoption Experience
We are the proud parents of Charlotte, who we joyfully adopted in March 2007. Adopting Charlotte enabled us to start our beautiful family and now we hope to expand our family by adopting another child. We always wanted a family but infertility prevented us from having biological children. We turned our focus to adoption and never looked back. We adopted Charlotte through American Adoption also. It was and still is an incredible journey for us. Charlotte is a beautiful, healthy and joyful little girl and we are truly blessed that we were chosen to be her parents.
We are so in love with her that we would never do it any other way and this is why we want to adopt a sibling through the same process. We think it will be a great thing for Charlotte and this child to share this special bond and know how special adoption is for our family. We can't wait to adopt another special baby!
What We’ll Tell Your Child About His/Her Adoption
We believe that placing a child through adoption is the most unselfish and loving thing that someone can do - to realize you love your child so much that you opt to have someone else raise your baby. We will make sure your child knows what a sacrifice you made for him/her. We would tell your child that you loved him/her so much that you wanted a better life for him/her. That you chose us to take care of him/her, to love and comfort, to be there for him/her.
We would love to keep in touch with you if that is something you desire and feel comfortable with. You will never be a secret in our lives; rather you will be cherished forever for allowing us to raise your child. Also, we would even be open to seeing each other on occasions if possible. Above all else, we plan to tell your child the truth about their adoption and make sure their questions are always answered honestly and lovingly.
Education
My Best Friend
We both went through graduate school to get our doctoral degree. Therefore, education is very important to us. But choosing a field in which you are happy is even more important. We plan to open as many doors as possible for our children, but we will make sure to emphasize that what's most important is that they pick something that makes them happy. The number of years of education or type of degree it requires doesn't matter. We will support both children's choices all the way.
One other thing on which we plan to emphasize is languages. We both speak fluently French and English and would like our kids to be able to speak French to their extended family.
American Adoptions, a private adoption agency founded on the belief that lives of children can be bettered through adoption, provides safe adoption services to children, birth parents and adoptive families by educating, supporting and coordinating necessary services for adoptions throughout the United States.
