As we move through this process, we often talk about how we'll handle challenges that may be presented to us as parents. At the end of these talks we circle back to the same basic philosophy: our job isn't to create a person, but to support a person as they create themselves. We appreciate your interest in our profile. No matter what you decide, you have our best wishes and prayers during this complicated time.

How Adoption Has Blessed Us
Four of Abby's cousins are adopted, so she experienced adoption as a way to bless a family when she was very young. Her cousins are simply her cousins, not her adopted cousins.
We believe there is a reason for everything, and in the case of our infertility the explanation was obvious to us. Our openness and even excitement to adopt made it silly for us to endure the physical, emotional and financial pain of prolonged infertility treatment. We were quick to take our struggle as a sign that adoption was not simply something we were open to, but
actually the path intended for us. We feel spiritually connected to this process and are certain that we will end up with the family we were meant to have.
Our Approach to Life
Kevin once read an article about a club called “International Fun Seekers,” and he joked that we have the credentials to join. We share the desire to eventually earn old age by seeking out bold and unique experiences at every turn. From rock climbing to hot air balloon riding to getting up at five a.m. to catch the sunrise, we appreciate the moments that life has to offer.
We make it a point to be excited for each phase of life, rarely talking about things happening in the distant future and instead focusing on what we can do to take pleasure in today. We don't wait for the weekends to have fun-every night Abby makes dinner from scratch and we sit outside to enjoy a feast while catching up on our day, then we'll swim or take a walk. Our weekends are jam packed with some combination of golf, wakeboarding, hosting neighborhood dinners, family
celebrations, beach time, bike riding, mini-trips, swimming, tennis and/or attending new events that come to our city and sound worthwhile.
We take all the vacation time we can! We've traveled together to Australia, Malaysia, Alaska, California, Washington, Colorado, Canada, Mexico, Texas, all over the east coast and throughout the Caribbean. We can't wait to have another International Fun Seeker join our family!
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Taking Off in a Hot Air Balloon Ride...
We have a family home in the Caribbean that we visit at least twice a year, usually with lots of relatives. It's the ground floor of a resort right on the ocean with swimming, sailing, snorkeling, tennis, croquet and golf. It was purchased with kids and grandkids in mind; we've sat on the deck for many sunsets envisioning the sand castles we'll help build with our children, nieces and nephews and the board games we'll play together at night with our growing family. It's our favorite place to be, and we know it will only be better when we have the opportunity to see it through the eyes of a child.
