How Adoption Has Affected Us
Caleb is biologically Maggie's son, he was nine months old when we started dating and during our courtship Caleb was included in as much as we could include him in. When we decided to get married that included Caleb as well, so Bob adopted Caleb, making it official, Bob is a Dad in every sense of the word. Although not biological, Bob is the only Dad that Caleb has ever known and Bob loved Caleb just as much as he could ever love a son, making it an easy decision to adopt him. We have tried for seven years to have a biological child. After several extensive infertility treatments which ended in miscarriages and heartache, a lot of soul searching was done as a family and we came to realize that we just wanted our son Caleb to have a sibling or siblings. To grow up as we did enjoying the ups and downs of having a brother or sister, someone to look up to, to give and receive the special kind of Love that only a sibling can. Our family and friends have been and continue to be extremely supportive in our daily life and with our decision to adopt. As a matter of fact one of our very close friends adopted a little girl from China and is currently in the process of adopting a son from China as well. Our reason for wanting to adopt is simple, we enjoy being parents and desire to do what we enjoy most, raising children, so we can share the love and joy that we already give to Caleb with more children, making our lives special and blessed.
Caleb’s Birthparent Letter
Dear Birthparent (s)
I would love to have a baby brother or sister. It would mean so much to me because I would like to have someone to play with and love for the rest of my life. I would never ever hurt him or her neither would my parents. I would just teach him/her how to play sports or what they wanted to know. I will do my best to help him/her when they needed me. I will teach them right from wrong, like my parents did with me. I will play the sports I learned to play when I was his or her age because I want them to have the best life they will ever have. I will protect him or her when they are with me and I will make sure they don't get hurt. I will answer or try to answer any question he or she will have for me. If your
wondering if I play sports I do. I play football, lacrosse and baseball. The other sports I played are basketball, T-ball,
soccer and that's it. I have fun doing it too. So as I was saying I would love a baby brother or sister because I want to make sure they are in a good home with good parents to take care of them. Don't worry they will be fine. They will be
with the best parents ever. That's why I want you to pick my
parents for your child.
From,
Caleb
Our Pets Are Important to Us
Our Kids: Ellie, Caleb and Riley
Having both grown up with pets we felt that it was important for our children to grow up with the same companionship that we had with our pets. We both really love our two labs that we have gotten since we have been married. Riley, our Chocolate Lab is seven years old and our Black Lab, Ellie is three years old. They love Christmas just like their owners. You should see them opening up their Christmas presents. Riley or "brown dog" as he is known and Ellie or "Ellie May" as she is also known even get a "special" dinner during Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. We both also feel that it is a great way to spend time together as a family. We love to take our dogs for walks during the evenings while our son Caleb is riding his bike. Or in the evenings we like to sit out on our deck and play fetch with our dogs while Caleb is playing on the swing set in the backyard. Ellie and Riley are such a huge part of our family that we wonder if they actually know that they are not humans but actually animals. We know that our dogs are very gentle with our own son and with our friends' children. We believe that they would be just as caring and gentle with your child.
