What Led Us to Adoption to Build Our Family
Sharing our lives with family and friends is a constant part of our daily lives. Vincenzo said from the start, it wasn't just the love we shared together that made our relationship so strong. It was the fact we were both looking in the same direction
sharing the same values and goals that made us so compatible. We were both looking for someone to settle down with to raise a family. Our courtship went so smooth; we were engaged after only a couple months. Soon after we were married. We tried all possible ways to conceive a child and have been unsuccessful. Building a family through adoption will make our dreams come true. We also hope we are helping a couple making a difficult decision easier. We can promise a life full of love and family for the child we are fortunate enough to raise.
Our Family Traditions
Our favorite tradition is Monday night dinner. That's when the pizzeria is closed and the whole family can get together. We enjoy cooking for each other and catching up. Mondays are the day we can celebrate all family events like birthdays, graduations, and showers. Typically dinner includes ten to seventeen of us and we're still growing.
During the summer we have our annual BBQ. The backyard is filled with our family and friends and their children. Everyone enjoys playing crochet, basketball, soccer, swimming, and badminton. Children and busy swinging while adults are just relaxing on the patio.
The holidays are a special time for our family. We invite all of our closest friends and their families to our annual Christmas party. All the furniture is removed. It is replaced with a sea of tables covered in holiday cheer. We serve a six course dinner
and our home is filled with fifty to sixty guests.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Visiting Vincenzo’s Hometown
Our favorite vacation spot is Italy. We enjoy spending our summers visiting Vincenzo's family and exploring the countryside together. Every year we find new and exciting places to visit. My first experience was at Christmas time. Vincenzo introduced me to his mother and his sister's family. Lunch time, I found is very important to Italians. They close their businesses down for three hours to enjoy a large meal, followed by a siesta "nap". After my first meal, I understood completely the need for a nap. Vincenzo's family prepares an incredible seemingly never ending meal. Course after course just keeps coming. There are some days Vincenzo's brother catches the main course that morning fresh from the sea. We enjoy most of the meal which was grown in the garden and picked from the fruit trees in the yard. After our siesta we visit with Vincenzo's mother. I study Italian in hopes of one day being able to have a full conversation with her. Right now, I speak very little but enough to entertain our four year old nephew. Later in the evening we walk around town, visit with family or take a walk on the beach. We like to end the evening with gelato "Italian ice cream".
Some of our trips have included wine tasting in Tuscany. Taking a small rowboat into the blue grotto in Capri. Sitting on the Spanish steps in Rome reading. Walking through the Vatican in total amazement and awe. Throwing a coin into the famous "Fontana Di Trevi", which means you'll return someday. Watching the sunset in Florence in the piazza with the statue of the David. Taking a romantic evening gondola ride in Venice. Visiting the leaning tower of Pisa even though we didn't climb to the top, it was amazing to see. Climbing the endless steps of Positano. The town was built into the mountain we must have walked up and down 5000 stairs during our three day stay. What made every town even more memorable was the cuisine. Sitting at the outdoor restaurants enjoying a meal was like living in a dream. We look
forward to the day we can share all of this with a child. Throwing the coin into the fountain will be their first trip.
