How Adoption Has Affected Us
Dean was adopted at five weeks old. His birth mom was 17 years old. She loved him too much to keep him as she knew she could not provide for his needs. Dean was adopted by
wonderful parents who were unable to conceive naturally. Dean met his birth mom several years ago and has since kept in touch often. We hold her in the highest regard for choosing a great life for her son.
Traci's aunt and uncle had five biological children and then adopted two African American children. They have been a wonderful inspiration to us. It has been our hearts desire to bring a child of African American decent into our home to love and cherish.
We are so excited to return this gift of love of adoption to another child. We have so much love to give. This child will never lack for anything. We have wonderful children who are so excited to have another sibling join our family. We feel so fortunate to have adoption already be such a big part of our family and are thrilled to have the opportunity to be involved with adoption from this perspective.
What We Do for Fun
We have always loved the great outdoors and teaching our children about the awesome creations which God has made. We have had the opportunity to do some traveling, such as seeing the mountains in Montana, to going to Michigan to the sand dunes and down to Texas to see the ocean. We also enjoy staying close to home and riding bikes, fishing, going to Storybook Island and making campfires in the backyard (of course roasting marshmallows and making smores are a must!). We also have a swimming pool during the summer months that is difficult to get the kids out of. We have made many family memories splashing around and seeing who can swim the farthest. During the winter months we have a blast making snowmen, and riding the snowmobile pulling a sled behind. There's nothing better than rosy cheeks and hot chocolate afterwards. We also enjoy just relaxing together on a Friday night with a pizza and movie. Our routine for bed time is one that includes reading stories, saying our prayers together and singing songs such as "You Are My Sunshine". Most importantly we give each child their own individual time for cuddles, hugs and kisses to let them know how important they are to us.
Our Children
Tiahna, Taylynn & Tyler Finding the Pot of Gold on Storybook Island
Our lives have been blessed by three wonderful children. Our oldest child is Tyler (10), who loves baseball, swimming, and doing projects with dad. He is a whiz at fixing and building things. Tyler is active with Sunday School and various other groups within the church, and loves to play outside in his free time.
Tiahna (6) is a sweet girl who loves to be a great helper. She loves arts and crafts, and has a big desk in which she has all her supplies in which to be creative with. She is also involved with Sunday School, and church groups and is in T-ball in the
summertime. She loves reading books and sitting and cuddling.
Taylynn (4) is a little mommy. She loves to play with her babies and dress up to be just like mom. She is also in Sunday School and other groups within the church, and loves to go to preschool. Her favorite thing to do in preschool is activity centers. She was born with a heart defect. Although she had surgery at five days old she is now an energetic, fun loving little girl.
