As you consider us as parents for your baby, we want you to know that your child will be treasured by us always. We know that you love your child and want to choose the best thing for their life. We will share their special adoption story with your child from a young age, and always present their adoption, and you, their birthparent, in a very positive light. Whatever your choice, we pray that your life and that of your child will be happy and blessed.

How Adoption Has Affected Us

Megan has three adopted siblings: one brother and two sisters. She counts it as such a blessing to have these amazing additions to her family. Her brother was adopted as a nine year old when Megan was 11. She has great memories of playing catch with him and teaching him how to ride a horse. Her two little sisters were adopted six years ago, and are now 15 and 16 years old. They are very sweet girls, and will be great aunts! Megan's grandparents also are the adoptive parents of a 15 year old boy. John and Megan really enjoy watching his football games and playing board games with him at her grandparent's house.

We had always planned to adopt at some point, so when we discovered that we were unable to have biological children, we had no hesitation in beginning the process of becoming adoptive parents. Both of our families are also very excited for us. Before we had even chosen an agency, Megan's mom called to say that she had found and purchased a beautiful crib for us. Our baby will be the first grandchild for John's parents and they can't wait to meet him or her.

Volunteering Our Time

With John working as a pastor, most of his day is spent doing "volunteer" type work! However, we also spend a lot of our free time volunteering in our community. We frequently plan, prepare and serve meals at a local homeless shelter. John also gets to share a message from the Bible with the people there. The last few years we have gone together on six trips to Mississippi and Louisiana to work on rebuilding projects in the areas damaged by Hurricane Katrina. We have really enjoyed the opportunity to help and get to know the courageous families who live there. We love the south (and now have quite a taste for southern cooking!) and always enjoy the time that we spend there. We are also helping to build homes with Habitat for Humanity in our own community, and are organizing a CERT team (Community Emergency Response Team) for our area.

How We Met

At Lyme Park, England

We first met when we were both recording music at the same event. John was a part of a Christian band, and Megan wrote and performed songs with her sister. We really got to know each other though while at Bible College in York, England. We both had the same shift at the college coffee bar and became great friends. When we finally started dating we had already known and admired each other for 6 years! We will always treasure those days in England together where we dated and became engaged. John proposed while we were drifting in a little rowboat through the village of Knaresborough; he gave Megan a Russian nesting doll with a ring around the smallest doll. The doll now occupies an honored spot in our home! We look forward to taking family trips back to England and sharing our love for that place with our children.
