What It Means to Be Parents and Our Strengths

We believe that to be a good parent takes patience, understanding, guidance, support, unconditional love and the willingness to learn something new every day during that child's life.

Children are our future, they follow by example. Children will learn, love, and care for what a parent has taken the time to show the child what to appreciate in life. We believe that every child should be raised with values, kindness, appreciation for others, compassion, love and laughter.

We as adoptive parents, plan to provide your child with family values, emotional support, and encouragement that will allow him/her to become their own person and find what makes him/her happy with their life. We plan to be good role models, loving adoptive parents with all the love and emotional support that your child will need to have a happy, fulfilled life.

What We Do for Fun!

We live for the outdoors! We are very active people that enjoy being on the go, spending time with friends, family, and each other. We enjoy working around the house, biking along the river, hiking, playing with our dogs, having barbeques, sledding in the snow, spending time with our nieces, nephew, and god child, going to sporting events, having picnics in the park, feeding the birds downtown, taking weekend adventure trips, getting lost in the annual corn maze, walking in the M.O.D. walk, walking to help fight MS, going to concerts, swimming, floating down the river, going to water parks with family, and camping in the beautiful mountains. Jason enjoys a good game of golf, playing horseshoes, fishing, playing pool and softball. Jeri enjoys horseback riding, shopping, early morning gym workouts and photography.

On the more leisure side of life we enjoy watching movies, family game night, dinner with friends, and laying on the couch. Individually, Jason can be found curled up reading a good book, enjoying a good game of on-line golf, or watching sports. When Jeri is not tinkering around the house, she can be found doing arts and crafts, baking goodies, or sitting on the couch doing magazine crosswords.

Our Pets Are Important to Us

Kenai and Koa

We have two wonderful dogs, Koa and Kenai, which were both adopted from animal shelters. Koa's litter was found on the side of the road, while Kenai was brought in by his previous owners. We adopted Koa first, he was quiet, lovable, and smart as a whip and the shelter put him just about three months old. He seemed to come with instructions of just take me home, give me love and I will take care of the rest, he began to spoil us. And that he did, he was a breeze to potty train, did not bark, did not chew up our home, nor destroy it, and did not jump on the furniture. Kenai came to live with us a few months later he also had a quiet, loving personality…at first. After a few short weeks, he started digging holes in the yard, chewing on our chair we received as a wedding gift, and wiggled his body so much that he knocked everything off the coffee table any chance he got. Unlike Koa, Kenai had to attend 'doggie' school.

When Kenai was five months old we found out he had bad hips. He does not sit like most dogs, has to take pills, and he gets a lot of massages. Having our dogs, as different as they are; has taught us to have unconditional love, patience and understanding of their differences. When our nieces and nephew come over to play ball with them, their differences just fade away. They depend on us for their daily walks, food, water, and a warm place to live.
