How Adoption Has Affected Us Personally
Adoption has affected us in the most positive way with our son, Marcus Emilio. We have put all our efforts into accomplishing our dream to have a family and now we are looking forward to adopting again! We are preparing every day for Marcus Emilio's sibling arrival. Meanwhile, he has been very excited collecting toys and clothes for his brother or sister. Our hearts are ready to give much love and are ready to guide and understand the needs of our children.
In 2005 we were blessed with Marcus Emilio. He will be three in November. Marcus Emilio is a very happy child and has a special bond with us and his grandparents. He loves to play with his friends in the neighborhood. He is looking forward to having a baby brother or sister.
We already have so many plans for our family. In our new home we already have the childproof safety requirements
recommended by the architect. The house is beautiful and has two big sunny rooms. One is for Marcus Emilio and the other one is empty for our new baby. Our kids can develop any gift or talent that they may have like swimming, music, art and dance. We have a special room set aside for them to enjoy any activity that they wish!
What We’ll Tell the Child About His/Her Adoption
We plan to tell our children that we never had the chance to have a baby grow in mommy's stomach. So, Grandpa gave us the idea to do the same thing that his mom did. When Grandpa was a baby he was adopted, because sometimes there are parents that have children that they cannot take care of for many reasons even though they love them very much. We thought that this was a great idea since we so badly wanted children but could not have them on our own. So, we found out about a wonderful baby that we could adopt in the US, exactly how great grandmother adopted grandpa. So in that instant our lives changed and we have felt much love in our hearts since that moment, for you.
Our Cultural Heritage
Safari Animals in Mexico
We have very different backgrounds. The Swiss culture contributes many positive qualities in Markus, like respect for others, punctuality, cleanliness, hard working, and reliability. In Swiss society, it is very important what you say, because what you say is what you think. For example, sometimes people make business with out signing any papers. They have respect towards each other. This is the most important characteristic of the society. The Swiss are never late for appointments because they respect the other person's time. The houses and the city itself are very clean; everybody cleans after themselves. They have to import almost everything, so the cost of living is high. Therefore, the people know that they have to make enough money in order to support the family. When they compromise themselves they never break their word.
For Gabriela, the culture background gives her other kinds of qualities, like loyalty, light-heartedness, hospitality, dedication and family unity. Mexican society has very traditional values. The women are trained to be mothers and wives. The family is always a priority, even with professional women. Mexicans have fun and enjoy life even in the worst tragedies. They are very welcoming with everybody and always have an extra plate for company.
