Our Adoption Experience
One year ago we were ecstatic when we received a phone call that we had matched for adoption. The birth parents asked to meet us, so the next week we flew out to meet them. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to get to know each other, and we spent time talking and sharing stories. Those are memories we will always cherish. We were honored to be allowed into the nursery shortly after Jaxson was born and spent time with his parents afterward. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to know them better so we can share with Jaxson what truly wonderful people his birth parents are.
Having Jaxson in our life has been the most amazing and rewarding experience. Every day brings new joy and excitement as we watch him grow and learn. You can't help but smile when you see him grin with his 4 new teeth, or listen to his squeals of joy as he plays with his toys. He is an incredibly happy boy, and we feel blessed every day to have him in our lives.
What We Would Tell the Child About His/Her Adoption
Both of us feel it is essential to be honest and open with the child about their adoption from a very young age. These are qualities we feel are important in every aspect of our lives. We would tell him or her, "We wanted another child to complete our family so much, and luckily for us your birth parents loved you and cared enough about you that they gave us this opportunity to raise you." Your child will always know how much you love them and that your decision was made out of a desire to ensure that they would have the best possible life.
We adopted our son, and several of our very close friends have also adopted children, so your child will grow up surrounded
by other loving adoptive families and will never feel that they were somehow "different". Knowing that each child is unique, we will look forward to learning to know and appreciate your child's special qualities. We will show your child how much we love and care for them through our everyday actions. It will always be clear what a wonderful gift we were given by being chosen to raise them. We will show our gratitude every day by providing a loving, compassionate and supportive environment.
Why I Would Make a Good Big Brother
Having Fun at Home
Hi! My name is Jaxson and I would love to have a little brother or sister. In the mornings when we get up I could teach them how to play with all the toys I have. I don't mind sharing my toys at all! I love having other kids around to play with! Later, we could go for a walk in our double stroller and I would teach them all about our neighborhood. I know all of the best places to play and I would introduce them to all of my friends. At nap time we could cuddle up together with our favorite animals. That would be a lot more fun than napping alone, although it might take longer to fall asleep!
Often we go swimming in the afternoon and I would show them what fun it is to make big splashes in the water. On vacation I would always have a playmate, and I promise I would always look after them while we explore new things. Everything would be twice as much fun if I had a little brother or sister to share things with. They would be my best friend and I would love them with all my heart!
