As with any couple approaching the idea of adoption for the first time, we have done some deep soul searching. As teachers especially, the idea of adoption was something that came very naturally to us. Every school year, we love and adore the students that pass through our classrooms. We feel that adoption will be an even deeper and more amazing emotional experience.

What We Will Love About Being Parents

With all of the responsibility and patience that goes with it, we are quite anxious to become parents. We are so excited to someday be able to spend quality time with this child by playing with them and their favorite toy, stacking Tupperware that they discovered in the kitchen, or doing sing-along's while we ride in the car. We are excited about getting wrapped up in their laughter and holding them when they cry. We look forward to reading to him/her their favorite stories at bedtime and comforting your child before they go to sleep. Watching them grow and change throughout each stage of their lives will be incredibly amazing to us both. Kim can't wait to share her love of baking and music. Mike is excited about teaching him/her his handy trades and playing with them out in our yard. After school, we also look forward to helping them with their homework, taking walks to our community parks and playgrounds, and picking fresh fruits and vegetables at our local farm. Since traveling and the outdoors are two of our greatest passions, we can't wait to watch his/her eyes light up when we show this child the world.

What We Love About Each Other

What I love about Kim: I love that my wife is the most caring and loving person that I have ever met. I also love that she is accepting of all of my quirks and interests. I love that she is creative, and surprises me when I least expect it. Last summer she surprised me by planning a trip with two of my best friends and their wives to go to Florida for an extended weekend. This is just one example of how her thoughtful and loving nature shows through in her actions for those that she cares most about. Kim has the biggest heart of any person that I have ever met and she is exceptionally patient and thoughtful. She is the best wife that a man could ever ask for.

What I love about Mike: Mike is the most compassionate, honest, and motivated person I have ever known. He is not afraid to show or share deep feelings which has him always encouraging open communication between us. He is extremely intelligent, handsome, and has a wonderful sense of humor. I am very fortunate to benefit from his creativity as a skilled craftsman. I love him for his thoughtful ways and for the times that he goes out of his way to surprise me. Last year for my birthday, he surprised me by building me a beautiful hand-crafted server table for our dining room. Mike is a family guy in every sense of the word. He cares very deeply for his family, friends and the students that he teaches every day. He is my soul mate and my best friend.

What We Do For Fun

A Hike in the Mountains

As a couple, to say that we simply enjoy travel and adventure would be an understatement. We live for going to places we've never been while learning about new cultures and meeting new people along the way. We have traveled extensively all over the US, the Caribbean, and Europe. We both have spent time back-packing through Europe taking in all of the breathtaking sights that Europe has to offer.

We simply can not get enough of the outdoors. Throughout the year, we enjoy weekend camping trips in the mountains where we get lost in the wilderness on our hiking expeditions. We also enjoy the adventure of white-water rafting on some of the most exciting rivers in the US and Europe. One of our favorite adventure trips was riding dune buggies off the coast of Oregon on some of the largest dunes in the US.
