We have created a life for ourselves that includes different activities, family and friends.
We know that a child would only increase our love for life and give us an opportunity to share all that we know and have learned with a new generation. Because we have members of our families that
have been adopted, we feel that we are in a unique position to become adoptive parents. Everyone in our family is excited that we want to become a
family by adopting a child and can't wait to meet
the newest member of the family. Thank you
for considering us.

Fun Games, Events and Hobbies We Look Forward to Sharing with a Child
We both grew up in families that kept us busy. We both played sports, attended Sunday school in our churches, participated in school clubs, and Amy was a Girl Scout and marched in parades as a baton twirler in a drum corps. Our families made sure that we experienced a variety of things by taking us to sporting events, museums and restaurants. As a child, one of the things Amy remembers is playing games by candlelight with her family when the electricity would go out during thunderstorms. We both read and enjoy talking about the books we have read and swapping them when we are finished. Amy still has many of the books she was given as a child, and buys new picture books each year when she attends her state librarians' conference. We are still like a couple of little kids in some ways, because we still love board games like Scrabble and Monopoly and love video games.
Education
One of the most important things we considered when buying our home was the school district we would live in. We chose a neighborhood with some of the best public schools in Maryland. Our neighborhood school has kindergarten through eighth grade, so that there will be little disruption during the middle school years. The school is near a public library, a community center and one of our neighborhood swimming pools. They offer programs year-round and offer school readiness programs for students during the pre-school years. The high school our child would attend is close to our neighborhood and is one of the smallest high schools in our school district. In addition, our county has an excellent community college and Maryland has some of the finest public and private colleges and universities in the country. We did a great deal of research when we began to look at houses in our community. As an educator, Amy knows that the school is important, but that our attitudes toward education matter more than the test scores of the school. We both believe that education is very important, a value that was instilled in us by our families.
What We Like to Do for Fun
Our Tent at a University of Maryland Football Tailgate
We both grew up playing sports and sports play a big role in our lives. We enjoy watching sports and have season tickets to University of Maryland football and women's basketball. We share our tickets with our family and friends, and most fall weekends involve tailgate parties with lots of food and laughter. We like to have friends over to our home for dinner and spend at least one weekend each month having dinner with friends. We enjoy cooking and entertaining, and are always reading magazines and cookbooks to find new things to try for our own dinners or sharing meals with friends and family.
We also enjoy the outdoors and walk at the lake near our home several times per week. We are lucky to live near several parks and we are only a couple of hours drive from the beach or the mountains. We enjoy vacations in both places, but love the beach the best. Our favorite time to go is in the fall, when the beaches are not crowded and the water is the warmest.
