Discussing Adoption with Children

Our lines of communication with your child will always be open. We are willing and eager to answer any questions your child may have about how he or she came to be part of our family. We will explain to them that adoption is a loving choice and that you are a very courageous person for wanting your child to experience the best life has to offer.

We promise to discuss adoption openly and honestly with your child from the very beginning. We believe that adoption is something that everyone involved should be proud of, especially your child. We will make sure that your child discovers how special it is to be adopted and how careful you were in choosing the right family. Your child will grow up knowing that you love him or her tremendously and nothing can change that. Your child will also know how much we appreciate you for making our dreams come true. From the moment that your child enters our family, we will honor you as the birthmother and we will emphasize your strength and endless love.

About Kendra, By Misty

Kendra is actually Jeremy's biological child, but we both refer to her as "our" daughter. Kendra is ten years old and has been a huge part of our lives ever since we met. In fact, Kendra was with us on our first date! Jeremy was raising Kendra as a single parent when we met. Kendra and I became very close over the years, and due to the circumstances, I have been fortunate enough to be her full-time mother. The bond that we share is just as strong as it would be if I was her birth mother. When Jeremy and I married in July of 2003, I wanted Kendra to know that I was marrying her too! Our wedding ceremony included giving Kendra a necklace to signify our unity as a family and the commitment I was making to her. Since I am a teacher, we have been able to be at the same elementary school since she started Kindergarten. I am also very involved in the Girl Scout troop that she has been in for almost five years. We go camping and do volunteer work with the troop. Jeremy calls us "two peas in a pod." Kendra is such a loving child and she can't wait to welcome a little sister or brother. I feel blessed to be given the opportunity to love and support her unconditionally as my daughter.

Why Our Pets Are Important To Us

Kissy Kissy

We are a family of animal lovers! We got our first dog, Snowflake, when we were dating. She was a Christmas gift from Jeremy. We have had so much fun watching her grow up. We often reflect back on the funny things she did as a puppy, such as barking at her reflection in the glass and trying endlessly to squeeze herself between us when we would sit by each other on the couch. After we got married, we took in a stray dog. His name is Buster. The two dogs are the best of friends, and they spend hours chasing each other (and squirrels!) around our big back yard. Both dogs are wonderful with children. They love to be taken out for walks, and they love to play fetch, as well as give lots of kisses. We recently added a new pet to our family. His name is Bun-Bun and he is a Netherland Dwarf Rabbit. He is absolutely adorable, with his soft black fur and his little bunny nose. We especially enjoy bringing him out into the yard to romp around or taking him out for a walk on his leash. All of our pets are a big part of our family because they bring so much love and joy into our home. We are looking forward to sharing our love of animals with a new baby.
