Family Traditions

We are a family full of traditions, and one of them is big birthday bashes. We feel your birthday is the one day that is all about you. The birthday kid calls the shots and we all indulge. We have had big bouncy slides, pool parties, Chuck E Cheese, Disneyland, Laser Tag and movie theatre parties. Janet decorates cakes so we always have a fun cake, lots of food and most importantly tons of friends and family. At Christmas time, we have our Christmas light tradition. We pop popcorn, pack Sprites and we take the boys and their cousin Parker to see the Christmas Lights. We drive to a huge light display in Phoenix that you can drive through and we look at the lights and listen to carols. We then go to a house where you can walk through and see a Christmas village. After looking at all the lights we go home watch "Elf", eat pizza and drink hot coco. Our holiday tradition is something we all look forward to.

We have made sure that our children understand that to us family encompasses not only the four of us but also their other parents, step parents and half siblings. Often times birthday parties include Janet's ex-husband, Andy and Christian's sister's Kailee and Mikayla. Sometimes Andy's parents will join us too. We have gone to baseball games with Todd's ex-wife, July and her husband, Chuck along with their daughters Anna and Brea. We do things like this to show our children that family can mean a lot of different things and that they never have to choose because all of us are in this together.

Education

We firmly believe that education equals opportunity. We take school very serious in our home. School work and getting good grades comes before anything else. Ryan attends one of the best schools in Ohio and Christian goes to a private Catholic School in Arizona. Because Arizona public schools do not rank very high nationally your child will attend private grade school where they are certain to receive a better education foundation. Janet's sister, Jenny, is a high school English teacher. Your child will attend the high school she teaches at to ensure that she gets the best teachers and opportunities. We greatly encourage having fun and extracurricular activities such as sports but keeping up with school work comes first. Your child will be encouraged to pursue whatever their passion may be and we will support any education needed to make that passion a reality for them that includes any college that they choose as well as trade schools. Your child will not be asked to work during college rather we would encourage her to take internships and try out different jobs while still in school. Your child will never hear the words "you can't do it" we believe with encouragement, hard work and education your child can become anything she wants to be.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

On the Raft Ride at California Adventure in Disneyland with the Boys

Our favorite vacation spot in the world is Disneyland. We go at least once and sometimes 2 or 3 times a year. We even spent our honeymoon there. A week in Disneyland with the kids is not a classic romantic get-away, but we would not have changed it for the world. We were there a week and had to add an extra day because we were just having so much fun. We consider ourselves "Disneyland Professionals". Ryan and Christian always get a map and plan our week first thing so we can maximize all the fun. We have our special places we eat and special rides and rituals. We have "our secret spot" that we always go to to get the best view of the Fantasmic Show. We get there when the park opens and stay until the firework show that always makes Janet cry and Todd and the Boys tease her. We drag our tired bodies back to the hotel and get up bright and early the next morning and do it all over again. We love Disneyland so much that we are going to buy a brick in the front of the park for our family only we want to wait until your child is here. We would not dream of doing something so special to our family and not have her included.
