We are very involved people; we enjoy sports, community projects and being with our friends and family. Together we coached both boys and girls junior high basketball for seven years and for four years beyond that we have coached girls softball. It has been one of the best things we have ever been involved with and most of the kids, now that they are older, still stop by our home from time to time just to visit. We both also like to play sports and have been on co-ed volleyball, basketball and softball teams. We spend a lot of time working on our home and the yard. Kyna really likes to do crafts and is Miss Fix It around the house and Doug has become a very accomplished gardener since we moved out to the farm.

We like to be outside if possible and we enjoy playing games like lawn golf, croquet, throwing a football or softball and picnicking in the park to feed the ducks. We usually call some of our friends and they come along with their families, too. Kyna likes the motto "the more the merrier". Doug loves sports and he keeps up with quite a few games on the internet and television, while Kyna is usually surfing the net to find more home decorating tips and the latest fashions-that are on sale. We like to visit the "big city" from time to time to shop and we love going to the comedy club.

Kyna- My favorite childhood memories are growing up on my Grandparents farm. Things like riding the combine, making mud pies and riding my three wheeler-I was a real tomboy. I also enjoyed baking with my Grandma and my Mom. And I still love fishing with my Dad.

Doug- My family was always on the go and into all kinds of activities. My parents made ceramics and we traveled a lot to craft shows. We have always taken a week long vacation with family and still do today. We have been to Texas and Florida and we stopped at every roadside attraction along the way. My Dad took tons of pictures and video. It is the memories of these vacations that we still talk about 20 years later and that I soon hope to share.

We are really looking forward to sharing our lives with a child and watching and helping that child grow. I [Kyna] am looking forward to reading to a child and playing imagination games. The best part of being with kids is getting to share the new ways they look at things-I think that is good for all of us. I also am looking forward to teaching a little person how to grow vegetables and fix things and be self reliant.

I [Doug] am looking forward to helping a child explore new things like searching for seashells at the ocean and learning new games to play. I am also looking forward to cheering that child on in the activities he/ she may choose to do; whether it is sports or dance or a science fair, I'll be there.

Love Birds

Our family currently consists of several barn cats and 1 parrot, who is a real character and who we spoil rotten. We love animals and we really baby them. Our bird loves to ride in the car and he really loves going to Dairy Queen for ice cream. He says about 30 words and the girls at the drive through love him. We want children in our home to enjoy and appreciate the love pets can give and also the sense responsibility they instill. Pets are just an extension of love in the home and we look forward to our family growing with more pets and a child to share in that love.
