How We Met
We met after an Alabama concert. A friend of Michael's introduced us and soon after we were spending all our time together. When one of Michael's cousins asked who the girl was, Michael replied "That's my future wife". Shortly after we began dating Michael was called to duty in Iraq with the Army Reserves. It was not hard to decide that we would be married before he left. So two weeks after our wedding, he boarded a plane and left for one year. We knew it would be hard and it was, but our faith and love for each other kept us strong. We are so glad he is back safely, but proud that he was able to serve his country. Because of our experiences we believe we were meant to be together and have learned to be strong and support each other with whatever life throws our way.
What Led Us to Choose Adoption to Build Our Family
From the moment Kristin received her first Cabbage Patch Doll when she was five and sent in the adoption paperwork, changing the doll's name to Rudy (from the Cosby show!), she knew she wanted a houseful of kids, biological and adopted. She feels she has more than enough love to give to children. After getting married, we began talking about starting our family. When Michael came home from Iraq we began trying. After a miscarriage, then surgeries and fertility treatments that failed, we decided that God never meant for us to have biological children. We also came to understand that DNA does not define family. Love and compassion and support is what defines family. Our lives revolve around children; our relatives as well as the children at the daycare. We believe we have all the love and compassion any child could ever want, maybe even more than they want at times, such as when they are teenagers!!
We plan on being open and honest about adoption and the story that led us to your child. Much emphasis will be placed on the selflessness and love you have for this child and how you only wanted the very best for him or her. We want the child to know as much as they can about their life story and are
prepared to create a scrapbook of their personal story and a journal of our journey to find them. We would love to share pictures of you with them, if you desire. They will grow up knowing how their birth families became part of our lives and how lucky we were to be chosen to raise and love them.
Education We Will Provide
Celebrating Birthdays at the Daycare
Kristin is the owner and director of a child care center serving over 60 children from birth to 12 years of age. She is excited to know that although she will not be a stay at home mom, she will always be with the child. As the owner and director she has the flexibility of taking off whenever necessary. Our philosophy on early childhood is that birth to age three is the most important time for a child to learn the things that will make them successful in adulthood. For instance, reading to babies is greatly important to the child learning to read in elementary school. Your child will receive the best early childhood education possible and will be supported during school age years to excel in education as well as extracurricular activities such as sports, 4H, or boy/girl scouts. We are financially able to provide a quality college education to whatever college your child may choose.
American Adoptions, a private adoption agency founded on the belief that lives of children can be bettered through adoption, provides safe adoption services to children, birth parents and adoptive families by educating, supporting and coordinating necessary services for adoptions throughout the United States.
