We are passionate about each other and we are passionate parents. Our second biggest passion is exploring the world on our own. We love to hike on the Canary Islands or in New England, go on a safari in Africa, sail in the Mediterranean Sea, participate in the carnival of Venice, Italy, go skiing in Canada or canoeing in the Florida Everglades. We undertake city trips to London, Paris, Rome or New York. We have fun in a Disney Park, follow a space shuttle lift-off with excitement or discover our city by bike. We enjoy the beauty of unspoiled nature, and are also inspired by cities, with their cinemas, museums and theatres. We are grateful that we have the financial means to carry on this passion even after Sandra became a full-time mom. Just imagine us showing all these wonderful places to the children. Envision us strolling along the ancient streets of Rome with the child or buying them a red balloon underneath the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Imagine how exited they will be skiing with us in Canada or watching a real wild elephant in Africa.

Adoption is a wonderful stroke of luck…, for the child, the birthparents and the adoptive parents. We will tell your child from a very early age about their adoption and they will grow up with the certainty of being loved by two special families. When they grow older we will show the child how affectionately and responsibly their birth parents acted in making such a thoughtful plan for their child's future. We will never let any question of the child remain unanswered, we will patiently and seriously answer all their questions on their adoption. We will convey to the child the feeling of being a very special and cherished child.

Since our families are feeling positively about adoption, talking about adoption is and will be a natural thing. The child will feel comfortable and confident, no matter whom in our families they address with questions or discussions about adoption. The child will have Daniel as his adopted brother and the opportunity to play with other adopted children since we have several friends who adopted children and we have very close friends who are in the adoption process as well. They live just a few minutes away.

Sailing in Italy

We enjoy sports together, such as sailing, running, swimming and yoga courses. Reading newspapers or books are our more silent pastimes. We love to have guests in our home and we spend a lot of time planning and cooking a meal, decorating the table and having fun with our guests.

In addition, Dirk loves to play tennis and squash with his brothers or friends, as well as playing with the children of friends. Sandra loves to be creative. She can't wait to sew the curtains for the child's room. She loves decorating the home, cooking and gardening. She is a skilled photographer and will take hundreds of nice pictures of the child. You can be sure that she will pick the best photos, put them in an envelope and send them to you.
