What it Means to Be Parents and Our Strengths
Parenting is the supreme responsibility of loving and nurturing a child until they become an independent and responsible adult. Providing a safe and loving home where the child understands their limits, feels confident, and receives encouragement to flourish is critical to being a parent. Parents should always lead by example. A parent must love a child unconditionally to ensure their child feels secure and confident.
Parenting is about making memories, whether it be teaching them to ride a bike, playing together in the backyard, stories at bedtime, coaching their team, or nightly back scratches, it is important to spend time with your child. When all is said and done, we return to the famous adage painted on a flat stone on the wall of our parent's home, "There are two gifts a parent must give children. One is roots, the other is wings".
Martha has a wealth of experience caring for children, through spending time with her nieces and nephews and helping them through difficult times in their lives. In addition, her job has given her 15 years experience working with children, providing counseling,
support, encouragement, and care for the child and their family. Her strengths include being a good listener, a compassionate friend and loving family member.
Growing up in a large family, Mark gained experience teaching his younger cousins the lessons of teamwork, competition, friendship, and camaraderie by organizing and coaching their sports teams. His strengths include being a patient friend, a thoughtful husband and a caring family member.
What We Like to Do for Fun
We enjoy spending time together walking our dogs and playing fetch with them in our yard. We like to relax at home watching TV together. During the summer we invite friends and family to our home for cookouts, where we enjoy playing various activities, such as washers, foosball, playing cards or darts. Our friends and family meet us out for a relaxing dinner often where we enjoy good conversation and laughs.
We support our favorite professional sports teams either by watching them at home or by attending their games in person. Every year we travel to Wisconsin to attend a Green Bay Packer game at historic Lambeau Field.
Whenever possible we take trips to Wisconsin, Florida, New Jersey, Georgia or Nevada to spend time with our family and friends. Many of these trips are for family occasions such as holidays, graduations, anniversaries, birthdays, weddings or family reunions. We love to share these milestones in life with our family and friends. We find all of these events fun as long as we are spending them together and we cannot wait to share these events with your child as well.
Our Pets
Bubba and Reggie
We have two dogs, Reggie and Bubba. They are a part of our daily life and keep us young and active. The dogs are there when we wake up each morning to greet us with wagging tails and dog kisses. They are at the door waiting for us when we arrive home ready to play or go for a walk. When we are sick or upset they always know and snuggle with us to make us feel better. No matter how our day has gone they are always there to make us happy.
Reggie is the guardian of the house. He sleeps by the door making sure we are safe each night. Bubba is the traveler. He loves riding in cars and has enjoyed many trips to Wisconsin with us. Both dogs are very gentle and play well with our friend's children and the kids in the neighborhood. Throughout the years, they have given us many happy memories and continue to hold a special place in our hearts.
