How Adoption Has Affected Us

Adoption has definitely been a part of our lives in many ways. Michaela was adopted at birth by her adoptive parents. She was always told that she was adopted from a young age so that it would not be a shock when she got older. Michaela knows personally what it feels like to be adopted and the feelings and thoughts you have when you get older. Michaela always wondered what her birthparents looked like, why they gave her up, and did they love her? Michaela was unable to get any of this information because it was a closed adoption. After we were married for five years and could not have children of our own we adopted Kaitlyn and two years later adopted Timothy. The best experience was spending time with their birthparents and getting to know them. It will be wonderful when the kids get older and we will be able to tell them about their birth parents and how much they loved them but knew they were doing the right thing by giving them a loving family who where able to provide a better life for them. Adoption is such a wonderful thing and it will always be a part of our lives.

We plan to discuss adoption openly with your child and will provide resources necessary to help them through difficult issues. Your child will always know that it was their birthparents generous love and unselfishness that gave us this opportunity to share our lives together. We want your child to know as much as possible about their birth families and how they came apart of our life. We will answer any questions from your child regarding their adoption. We thank you tremendously for choosing and giving this gift of live.

What It Means To Be Parents And Our Strengths

Being a parent is the most important and most rewarding job. It is shaping the life of a child and sharing your love, life, dreams, and home with. A parent needs to carefully balance love and discipline, teaching them right and wrong and making sure they know how much they are loved. We enjoy taking our kids to the swimming pool, going on walks, playing with their nieces and nephews, reading stories, playing games, and just having fun outdoors.

Our strengths being a parent is showing our love and laughing a lot. Being patient is also very important. We want your child to know that they can talk to us about anything and they will always be loved.

Our Family Traditions

Enjoying the Sun

We decided early that we both wanted to start some Christmas traditions since it is both of our favorite holiday. Christmas Eve we all get dressed up and go to midnight mass at our church after a big family dinner. Then Christmas morning we wake up in our home and open presents followed by a pancake breakfast and Irish coddle.

Another tradition is going to the beach every summer with the whole family and renting a beach house. It is definitely the fun house with more kids then adults. We go down to the beach everyday and in the evenings each family is responsible for cooking dinner one night of the week. We take drives to see the lighthouses, family olympics, tubing, putt-putt, and all the fun things you do at the beach. It is a wonderful vacation for everyone to get together.

We look forward in including more children in our family traditions and to creating new ones!
