Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Written by AnnaMarie: Every summer for the past 20 years Paul has been going to Ocean City, Maryland for vacation. He stays at the same hotel every year. Since he met me he has been dragging me along to the beach with him. I have to say, I love going to the beach in the summer, it was always my favorite vacation spot too. I grew up in Philly, so I always went to the Jersey shore, i.e. Ventnor, Margate, Atlantic City, and Ocean City, New Jersey. When we went to Ocean City Maryland together at this hotel on the boardwalk, I thought "what a dive!" The rooms were small and musty, the floors were uneven and you had to wait for hot water. Once you got in the shower the water would turn freezing cold and get hot again. I said "No way are we coming back here." Well, we've been back every summer since. They have made several improvements and I guess the place is just growing on me. All the little crazy things that happened there helped us build fun memories. We even go there now and then for customer appreciation week. We just love the ocean sounds and the sunshine and peacefulness of the beach. We like to walk along the shore and fly kites. We've rented bicycles to ride on the boardwalk and we just can't wait to share all the fun activities of making sandcastles, playing in the water at the pool and on the beach and enjoying the rides in the evening. Oh, and let's not forget Franco's Pizza and ice cream!
Discussing Adoption with Our Children
Your child will always know that it was their birthparents' unselfish act of love and courage that gave us this opportunity to share our lives together. We will answer any questions from your child regarding adoption. We will tell them all the details of the wonderful story of how they came to us. We will emphasize how much you cared for your child and how much you wanted to give them the best opportunities life could offer.
We want our child to know as much about his/her birth families and how they came to be a part of our lives. We will always be grateful for the wonderful gift you have given us.
Our Pets: Wild Thing, White Spot, Callie and Spooky
Our Kittens
We just love animals and all living things for that matter. A year after we were married and had moved in to our house, a group of 3 kittens started hanging out in our backyard. We of course fed them and named them: White Spot, a white cat with black spots; Black Spot, a black cat with white spots; and Smokey, a gray cat with some white around his neck and face. After several months, Black Spot disappeared and a month after that Smokey left too.
Meanwhile, we continued to feed "White Spot" and low and behold he brought his girlfriend around so we started feeding her too. She was a friendly, short-haired multi-colored Torte cat. We had never seen such a colorful cat and we named her "Wild Thing". Next thing you know, Wild Thing became friendlier and friendlier and bigger and rounder. We knew at that point she was about to have kittens. Although she was quite friendly, much friendlier than White Spot, she still did not like coming in to the house. One night she jumped in our basement window well and the next morning she had 5 little kittens! When they were about 5 to 6 weeks old it started to rain. Wild Thing was taking them out one by one behind the fence in our back yard. We immediately ran out to grab them and bring them in. We called Wild Thing to come in, but she would not until we showed her one of her kittens. Then she finally followed in too. We kept her and three of the kittens. We gave two to our friends Ellen and Mike and their children. We think it's great for a child to grow up around pets to teach them responsibility and unconditional love.
They are such lively, healthy and happy kittens. You cannot imagine how much fun and how much life these little kittens have brought to our home. Oh, and being the creative people that we are, we named them White Spot, Jr, (looks like his dad), Callie who is a calico cat (all white with one orange eye and one brown eye), and Spooky who is all black.
