As children of large families, we looked forward to having a large family of our own. Caitlin was 9 months old when we started trying for another child, but two and a half years later after multiple infertility treatments and several miscarriages we accept that God has a different plan in mind for building our family. Jim and I both have very strong family ties and wonderful relationships with our siblings. Our siblings are our closest friends. We want that kind of loving relationship for Caitlin. She wants a brother and a sister and is always kind and gentle with the other babies that she meets. Adoption is a natural choice for us - we both have friends and family that are adopted or have adopted children. Kathleen has a first cousin who was adopted. Her experiences with her cousin led her to believe that she would someday adopt, even if she had biological children of her own.
| Our Favorite Vacation Spot |
We love spending time in the Mountains year round whether it's hiking in the spring, summer and fall or skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months. We own a vacation home there that we try to enjoy as often as possible. As soon as we get up there we like to open the windows and breathe in the fresh smell of pine and fresh air. We do have one rule up there - thatâ??s the three nap rule which goes into effect the minute we get up there. Itâ??s all about relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the world around us - the mountains, the forest trails, the food and the people. It is so quiet and peaceful there that it is a great place to just go and relax and enjoy being with family. We look forward to sharing these moments with our new little one! One of Jimâ??s favorite memories with our daughter Caitlin is from our vacation up there. We had a few other families staying with us and we went for a short hike with the kids. This was Caitlinâ??s first official hike and while she walked a good distance on her own, she did also ride on Daddyâ??s shoulders for part of the hike. Caitlin was very excited and canâ??t wait to teach her new brother or sister all about the mountains and the woods. Kathleen had her camera along for the hike and there is one photograph that just captures that moment for Jim - walking in the woods, with the autumn leaves changing and his daughter smiling broadly while she rides on top of Daddyâ??s shoulders - what could be better than this. It is the moments like this that make vacationing in the mountains such a treasure for us. We are very excited about adding another little one to our family vacations very soon!
Sandcastles on the Beach
Hi, my name is Caitlin Ann and I am 3 years old. I live in a great neighborhood where there are lots of other kids to play with. I live at home with my Mommy and Daddy and we do lots of fun things together. My daddy works during the week and mommy and I get to play every day. We go to the park and the zoo and take classes together like gymnastics, music and dancing. Mommy and I bake and play dress up - we take our baby dolls for walks and do lots of arts and crafts to celebrate the holidays. I love playing outside - climbing, swimming or riding my bike. At night and on the weekends, my daddy is home and he's my biggest toy of all - we have lots of fun together. Together we build sand castles in the summer and have snowball fights in the winter.
My cousins all have big families with lots of brothers and sisters to play with - and I would really like that too. In fact last week I asked my Aunt if we could take my new cousin home to live with us because she already has two children and I really want and need a little sister or brother to play with. My mommy and daddy said we're going to adopt a baby from someone special and I can't wait. When I say my prayers at night I ask Jesus to send me a brother or a sister.
