How Adoption Has Affected Us
Two years ago, we got the greatest and most unbelievable news, our adoption came through! After many years of infertility, we decided the best way to complete our family was through adoption. When the call came, we were ecstatic and at the same time thinking, “Is this a dream?” Then came the best trip we ever took; we went to Guatemala and met Miranda. Our homecoming was nothing short of spectacular! Our families met us at our house and the celebration continued. Being parents has fulfilled our lives in ways we never thought possible. She amazes us daily with her smiles and abilities. Miranda grounds us and reminds us to enjoy life simply. Adoption gave us something we thought we could never have, a family.
Our Childhood Memories and What We Like to Do for Fun
Anthony remembers winters sleigh riding down a big hill near the local hospital where he was born. Every Sunday morning, his uncle and cousin would pick him up and take him to breakfast, then to the ice arena. They spent the day on hockey skates having fun. Sports were a huge part of growing up. He played baseball and football with his brothers and neighborhood friends. Lil's memories include being with family. Every Sunday was spent at her grandma's house having pasta dinners. All of her cousins would be served dinner at the kids table, and there were a lot of them. After dinner they would all play in a baseball field across the street. The games included playing baseball, kickball, ghost in the graveyard, and running bases. Her fondest memories always include her cousins, aunts and uncles, and laughing with family. To this day, Lil is still very close with her cousins and sees them often.
We love to spend time together as a family. We have a black lab, named Jersey, and enjoy taking her for long walks. Sometimes, on a nice day, we will take a drive to the beach and relax in the sunshine. There is nothing more calming than listening to the waves. Our daughter, Miranda, really enjoys being outside, playing with her sidewalk chalk on the driveway. Cooking is also a way for us to relax. We love to entertain friends and family, plan menus, and sit around and laugh together. Apart from each other, Anthony enjoys taking long drives in his Mustang convertible, watching sports, and doing yard work. Lil has fun taking kick boxing classes, caring for her daughter, and relaxing with a good book.
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Cruise to Aruba
Our favorite vacation spot is Aruba. Aruba holds special memories for us because we spent our honeymoon there. We have gone back to visit several times. The weather there is always perfect, warm with a nice breeze, sunny, and calm, what we consider to be paradise. It is a Dutch island and the people there are always friendly and warm. The food there is amazing and the best part is that you eat every meal sitting outside, enjoying the ocean view. During the day you can find families and couples floating on rafts in the calm crystal blue turquoise waters. We remember lying on the beach talking about our future and watching little kid make sand castles. We can't wait for our next visit.
