Our Adoption Experience

When we started to plan our family 3-4 years ago, we were faced with the difficult reality of dealing with infertility. Our infertility was at first very disappointing and somewhat heartbreaking, but it really pulled the two of us closer together and re-affirmed our hopes and beliefs in each other and the joy that adoption could bring.

In June of 2007, we received the best phone call of our lives - when we were notified that we'd been selected as parents of a soon-to-be-born boy!! Two quick months later we were the proud parents of Jack Robert! The entire adoption process was truly amazing. Leading up to Jack's birth, we were fortunate enough to speak on the phone with the birthparents on several occasions and even had an opportunity to spend time with the birthmother an hour before the birth. Later on the night that Jack was born, we spent a couple hours in the birthmother's hospital room with Jack, the birthmother, and her family. We also got together for dinner with the birthparents a couple nights after the birthmother and Jack left the hospital. It's hard to put into words how comforting and wonderful the process was getting to know the birthparents both before and after Jack's birth. To this day, we send letters and pictures to the birthmother every two months and will continue to do so.

Our friends and family have been extremely supportive of us over the last couple years as we've gone through the adoption process. Adopting our son Jack was the absolute best moment of our lives! We are so thrilled to begin the adoption process again. Jack will be a wonderful big brother!

What We’ll Tell the Child About Their Adoption

From an early age, we want your child to be aware of his/her adoption and the great joy and love that is part of being adopted. Your child will know that he/she is the most beautiful gift in our life. The child will always know that he/she is so special to be loved both by us and by you. Your child will know about the courage and compassion that you showed in trying to give your child the best life possible. We will tell your child how blessed they are to have been born to someone that was so selfless and loving. We will tell your child that they were chosen, that we were chosen, and that we are the luckiest beings in the world because of the love they have brought into our lives. Pictures are also a big part of our life, and we intend to keep photo albums that will track your child's growth. We hope that by seeing constant reminders of his/her life story, your child will always know how important they are to our family.

Our Leisure Time

Having Fun at the Park

We stay as active as possible in our free time. As former collegiate athletes, we both have a great adoration for sports, including tennis, golf and soccer. We love spending time at the park and going to the pool in the summer. We also enjoy a nice mix of more relaxed activities including watching sporting events, playing board games and cozying up by the fire to watch a movie. We enjoy trying new recipes in the kitchen and hosting cookouts on our back deck with friends. Whenever we have the chance, we love to escape on long weekends to visit friends and family, explore new cities and spend relaxing time at the beach. Most importantly, we take advantage of our free time as an opportunity to spend time together and temporarily escape from our otherwise busy lives.
