We lead a simple life, and mostly enjoy hanging out at home. We both are laid back and not rushed. Cheryl enjoys cooking
but not as much as Jim loves eating her master pieces. Sundays we spend watching football on TV. We like to go for bike rides and picnics down at the lake. An occasional round of golf is always fun, unless we actually keep score. Vacations are important and relaxing. We love our vacation home but also like to try new places as well. We help out at church as much as we can. Jim likes to putter in his workshop and Cheryl likes doing crafts. We both love “food network.” Believe it or not we actually met online through eharmony.com. We talked online for about 1 ½ months before we talked on the phone. After 2 weeks or so, we met in person and have been unseperable since.
We both come from families that are rich in traditions, we are just going to highlight the ones we love the most.
Jim along with his brothers, uncles, dad, and nephew go to Canada on a 1 ½ week long fishing trip every other summer. They also get together for the opening of fishing season every year as well as deer hunting and duck season. Jim and his brothers have all owned a Ford Mustang at one point in their lives. Cheryl goes to the State Fair every year with her sister and nieces. We both love spending time at our seasonal home, just hanging out, having a campfire, and making S’mores.
Christmas has many traditions; one we cherish is the decorating of the 2 Christmas trees in the house. The living room tree has all red and white decorations, and the other tree has sentimental ornaments. While decorating the 2nd tree we sit and talk about how that ornament is so special. There are even Christmas stockings hung up for the cat and the dog. We can’t forget about all the Christmas cookies Cheryl bakes up every year.
Another wonderful tradition we have is New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Eve is the annual indulgence, we tend to stay in but Cheryl cooks a huge meal, or should we say meals: fondues, cheese platters, steak, lobster, and dessert. Then of course left over’s New years day are always yummy. And if it is your birthday, you get to pick the menu for the day and what activities you want to do; from breakfast all the way down to dinner and dessert. It is your day all day long.
Our Cat Fooley
We have two pets, Sparky our Border collie who is 11 and Fooley the cat who is seven years old. He got his name since he was born on April fool’s day. Sparky gets to go on vacations with us, while Fooley gets pampered by our niece while she comes and cares for him while we are gone. Sparky is very attuned to babies, especially when Cheryl’s new niece is over, any sound or whimper she makes, Sparky is right there to let you know that the baby needs some attention. The pets sleep on the couch together and actually play and chase each other around the house. They will sit next to each other for Cheryl while she feeds them treats one at a time, waiting patiently for their next bite. |
