Our Free Time and Fun Games, Events and Hobbies We Look Forward to Sharing with Your Child
With a large family we always seem to have something going on. Band lessons, basketball games, t-ball games, tennis practice, family functions, homework, and any other odds and ends the kids need to do. However, in the evenings when the day settles down we love to relax as a family and play a board game, watch a movie, sit by the fire or read a few books. Every few months we have a free weekend with nothing going on and we love to get a way. We will spend the weekend camping, load up and take a short road trip to a nearby water/amusement park or even travel to a neighboring state for a sporting event.
With four boys in the home you can't imagine how excited we are to welcome a little girl into our lives. We get so excited thinking of all the new activities and adventures we will be going on. Our boys laugh so hard when we tell them, "just wait, your sister is going to have all you boys wrapped around her little finger; in no time, you will all be sipping tea and playing house with her." They laugh and deny the fact, but we all know it's true :).
There are so many events we image sharing with your child, baptism, first tooth, first steps, first day of preschool, first day of kindergarten, first boyfriend and first break up, homecoming, sweet 16, prom, graduation, her wedding, the list is endless. Regardless of the event or situation, we'll be there to support your child every step of the way- cheering, laughing, exchanging hugs and kisses and most importantly we will always be there when she falls downs to hold her hand, embrace her and tell her everything is going to be OK.
What Makes Us Unique
The biggest thing that makes us unique is we are not afraid to have fun with our children. It's not uncommon to see Lynae jumping on the trampoline with the kids, or being in the middle of a huge water gun fight with all the neighborhood kids, (Lynae seems to always start those). Chris loves to wrestle, play catch, throw the football around, or give pointers to our kids on their golf swing. Chris is also famous for the pool cannon ball; he must do at least 20 cannon balls each time we go to the pool! We love lying on the floor with our kids and munching on a big bowl of popcorn together and basically just acting like kids ourselves.
To sum it up, we refuse to sit back and watch our kids grow up and have fun…without us; we want to have fun too and make memories together.
Our Family Traditions
Putting Together Christmas Gifts
Our family is full of traditions, Chris' favorite tradition is our annual Halloween party; we have 25-30 couples over for a night full of fun, games and a parade around the block.
Leading up to Thanksgiving we read books about Thanksgiving and the kids start making the place mats for each family member by writing something they are thankful for on each of the mats. We host Thanksgiving for our entire extended family.
Christmas is a fun season, the favorite for the kids. Chris takes the boys shopping for Mom's gift and Lynae takes the boys shopping for Dad's gift and then the big shopping day where we take all the boys shopping together to pick out a gift for each other. The key is picking out a gift for your brother without that brother seeing what you picked out.
Christmas Eve is Lynae's favorite tradition. We spend the evening together, playing games, reading stories, and hangin' out by the fire. No TV, just some soft Christmas music playing in the background. We have a few rowdy moments, when fun Christmas songs come on and we crank the music up and all start singing into our candy cane's microphones. We end the night with everybody sitting at the table and making a gingerbread house to leave for Santa.
Christmas Day is busy and crazy. Waking up Christmas morning and having Christmas, going to Chris' parents for lunch, followed by a trip to Chris' grandmother's for dinner with the entire extended family. The day after Christmas is the greatest. We stay in our PJ's all day and lounge around the house playing with all the new toys Santa and family gave the kids.
New Year's Eve is a night nobody forgets; it's a party for the kids. We have 20 families over for a night full of fun and messes. There is usually a lot going on, poker game, twister, bingo, you name it, it's happening. At midnight the 100+ confetti eggs are cracked and confetti and streamers are everywhere. There is not a quiet soul in the house.
