What We Do For Fun

Back from Horseback Riding

We both love to be with each other, spend time with family and friends, and whenever possible spend time enjoying the outdoors! Scott enjoys playing soccer, tennis, golf, working in the yard, and cooking. Nichole enjoys running, playing volleyball, dancing, interior decorating and playing games. Together we love taking long walks in the park, bike riding, traveling, going out to dinner, and just relaxing at home on our back patio or deck.

We have fun being active, but we also find a lot of enjoyment in simple things like watching the birds through our kitchen window or while sitting out on our patio. We have a wooded yard adjacent to a large wooded area with a pond nearby, so we get a variety of colorful wild birds that frequent our bird feeders, including adorable little humming birds. We also have a male and female cardinal "couple" that lives in our yard. Cardinals mate for life, and we think it is so cute how they follow each other around the yard, and reappear together season after season.

Some of our best times are spent at our home. On the weekends, occasionally we will make some yummy appetizers and have a "movie night" snuggled on the couch with a fire going in the fireplace. We also love spending time at home with our family and friends. We see our families often, usually for weekend dinners, cookouts, birthday parties and backyard campfires. We also see our friends as often as we are able. Most of our close friends have just recently started their own families and we are very excited to join them in the wonderful experience of parenthood!

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

Relaxing on Mom and Dad's Boat

Our favorite vacation spot is at a beautiful beach on Lake Michigan. We stay in a beachfront condo in a quaint little town nestled right on the Lake Michigan shoreline. The town has great local restaurants right on the harbor, and many cute shops that line the main street. The beach is part of protected national parkland, so the sand rivals that found in the Caribbean and the water is crystal clear. There are also many beautiful inland lakes nearby, along with several hiking and biking trails, some of which have breathtaking views of the lake and some incredible sand dune formations. We usually spend at least part of each day at the beach relaxing in the warm sun, swimming, and playing volleyball with each other. Other traditions we enjoy on our Michigan vacation are going for long morning walks on the beach, and going out for ice cream in the evening. We usually eat our ice cream cones while watching the sunset on the horizon. On clear nights, the sky lights up with an incredible array of brilliant shining stars, and we enjoy laying back and staring at the sky in awe of its beauty.

Tubing in the Lake

This vacation spot has special meaning because it is the same beach Scott's family vacationed at every summer when he was a child. Scott introduced this vacation spot to Nichole when they were dating, and we look forward to carrying on the tradition of this special vacation with our own children. We enjoy watching other couples play with their children on the beach and dream of the days when that will be us. We would be so excited to take your baby to "our" beach someday and play with him or her in the sand and the water, take them out for ice cream, and transform our annual summer vacation into a true family vacation!

Discussing Adoption

Your baby will grow up knowing everything about you that we are able to provide to them. We will talk openly about the way our family was created. We believe in being completely open and honest, answering any questions your child may have throughout their life. We will make clear to your child that we have the utmost respect for you and we will honor you for doing the greatest most selfless thing a person could ever do. Your child will know how hard it was for you to make this decision and how it was the immeasurable love that you have for them that enabled you to make such a difficult decision. They will know that their adoption is a beautiful miracle and you will never be forgotten.

We will be honored to send you letters and pictures throughout your child's life. We look forward to sharing your child's experiences with you as your child grows over the years. We would also love the opportunity to meet and talk with you before your baby is born. However, if you would prefer not to, we would absolutely understand and respect your wishes. If we do have the chance to meet, we would hope to help put your mind at ease about who we are and your decision to bless us with your child. Either way, your child will always know how difficult this decision was for you, and that you provided us with the greatest blessing we've ever had. We will be forever grateful to you. Thank you for choosing the most precious gift of "life" for your baby.
