Our Adoption Story

Our Family
When we realized that we could not have children naturally or with fertility we decided we would try adoption. Rachel's birthmother chose us in 2004 and we were so excited. When we got the call that she was being born we drove for 10 hours, stopped to sleep for 3 hours and finally made it to meet our beautiful daughter and her birthmother. The members of her birth family were wonderful and we even spent time with them after the adoption was final and we were waiting to return home. Rachel has been the greatest joy of our lives. We constantly feel blessed to have her in our lives and have let her know from the beginning that she is adopted and the great love her birthmother had for her. She often asks us to tell her her "adoption story." All three of us feel that another child will only add to our blessings and make our family more fun.

Our Priorities

At the Zoo
Family is the most important priority in our lives. We believe that you should spend as much time together as a family as possible and often tell your family that you love them. We are often surprised that parents we know would go on vacation or go out without their children. We do have date night some but we usually end up missing Rachel and feeling that we are not complete without her around. We both come from large families and always dreamed of having more than one child to love and care for so we are excited about adding to our family. Rachel is constantly talking about what she wants to share with her brother or sister and the things she can teach them. Since we have a lot of family members that live close by we enjoy getting together often for birthdays, holidays or just to have dinner together. Our religion is also a priority because we feel that with God as our focus we can accomplish and get through anything. Our church is a loving and caring group of individuals and we can always rely on any one of them to help us. They are an extended family to us and we feel blessed to be a part of our church.

Our Favorite Vacation Spot

On the Ferris Wheel at the Beach
Our favorite place to vacation is the beach and we usually stay at a campground. We all love the sun and water so we spend lots of time digging in the sand, swimming in the ocean or the pool or floating in the lazy river. The best part of the campground is that it has activities for the children such as crafts and games and even has a vacation bible school for the kids in the summer. Rachel is excited about showing her brother or sister how to build a sand castle and pick seashells. She is looking forward to playing with her brother or sister with a beach ball. She has already talked us into buying swimmies for him/her to use. The other things we love about the beach are the amusement parks and playing putt putt golf. We try to go to the beach at least two times a year just to get away and relax as a family.
