What It Means to Be Parents and Our Strengths

We both love children and our desire to have a family has only grown stronger with each passing day. We envision playing outside, taking walks, going on bike rides and giving and receiving hugs every day. We are both grounded individuals who love unconditionally, and would provide a loving, supporting and nurturing home to children. We both have individual strengths that will complement each other as we are raising our family.

Jim has always been a child at heart. He is always looking at the latest toys, gadgets and gizmos. Having a child will only bring out more of Jim's playful personality. In addition to Jim's personality, his strengths include the ability to take the emotion out of a situation and focus on the issue at hand. He has an ability to remain calm in the most stressful of situations. He also understands the importance of patience and perseverance when seeking to accomplish goals.

Stacey's career has allowed her to see first-hand the importance of having an active lifestyle. Stacey's vision of motherhood has always included an image of running with a jogging stroller. Stacey has a knack for bringing excitement and energy to physical activity. Stacey also understands the importance of a healthy diet and will ensure that her family receives the appropriate nutrients for a healthy lifestyle. In addition to being health conscious, Stacey's strengths include being an empathetic listener, she makes an effort to see the situation from another person's perspective. Also, she always tries to see the silver lining in each situation.

Volunteering Our Time for Charity

We both enjoy volunteering and helping others. We are both very active within our church. Jim volunteers his time as a reader, greeter, and usher. Stacey serves as a minister of communion to the ill and home-bound, regularly visiting with parishioners in their homes and at retirement centers. Outside of church, we both donate our time and talents to several organizations. We regularly donate blood and participate in charity road running races. Every year, Stacey works with Fairy Goodmothers. This organization helps local, less fortunate, teens select the perfect prom dress at no cost to them. Stacey enjoys seeing the girls' eyes light up as they envision their "night to remember." Jim regularly participates in an outreach group presenting to middle and high schools students about opportunities for them in construction. We value giving back to the community and cherish each experience, most of which we always seem to walk away from with a smile on our face. As parents, our goal is to instill a value of giving back to the community in our family.

Our Pets Are Important in Our Lives

Christmas with Max & Hayes

We have two dogs, Max and Hayes. We took both dogs in as strays and they are the best dogs in the world. Whenever we get home we know that we will be greeted by both dogs wagging their tails and excited to see us. Our dogs regularly make us laugh as they are constantly playing tug of war or chasing each other. This is especially fun to watch as Max is about twice the size of Hayes. We've been able to teach the dogs how to play hide and go seek. We command the dogs to sit and then one of us will go hide. Once we have hidden, we yell "Max, come find me, Hayes come find me." We can hear the dogs bolt down the steps in search for us. Their tails start wagging like crazy once they find us. We recently even got to play this game with Jim's Nieces and they had a blast trying to hide from the dogs, but inevitably Max and Hayes always sniffed them out.

Our dogs also provide us with unconditional love. If we've had a bad day it's not uncommon to find one of us petting and talking to the dogs. We both have commented on how our worries seem to disappear after spending a few minutes with the dogs. We regularly take our dogs for long walks and runs. They both get excited and start barking as soon as they see their leashes. Our Friday nights usually involve the two of us curling up on the couch to watch a movie. The dogs always take this opportunity to sit on the couch and cuddle with us. Our dogs are well behaved and are a lot of fun to play with.
