| What We Like to Do for Fun |
Lake Michigan North Shore
We love our time off together. The weekends and holidays always seem to go by so fast. We enjoy so many things, it seems like we can never fit them all into our time off. In the summer we enjoy motorcycle riding. Last year we took a scenic vacation around Lake Michigan stopping many times to enjoy the view. We have also taken other trips on the motorcycle (usually just weekends to local points of interest) but we have also taken longer rides, such as the time we rented a motorcycle in Hawaii and rode around the edge of Oahu. We also like camping, hiking, golfing, going to Cardinal baseball games, boating, and weekend barbeques with friends and family. Summer time is when we go to county fairs, the zoo, and attend outdoor concerts, plays and musicals too. When fall and winter comes along, we start attending hockey and football games and indoor plays at The Fox. We also enjoy skiing, usually in Colorado and playing in the snow with our family's kids when we visit them. In the winter, we also like to just stay in once in a while and bake something good and watch a good movie. Whatever we choose to do on the weekend; it's always fun.
| What it Means to be Parents and Our Strengths |
We believe being parents means making a commitment to the life of a child. We believe that good parents are really the child's role models in life. Our parents were great role models and we hope to follow their example. We will show him/her how to live a moral and ethical life. We will teach him/her to be honest, caring and trustworthy. It will be our privilege as parents to teach him/her the difference between right and wrong and how to enjoy all the good things life has to offer, like warm chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven and made with love by us. Also, the feel of warm sand between your toes and fresh ocean air blowing through your hair as we walk along a beautiful beach scouring for seashells and watching the sunset in the distance. And last but not least, the joy of having a family to share memories of the past with and to make new memories with, all while laughing and having fun with them at that moment. We look forward to supporting, nurturing and encouraging him/her as he/she grows into adulthood. We will always be there for him/her when they need someone to talk to about anything. We will keep an open mind and open heart always when he/she comes to us with any problems. We are good listeners and believe if you stick together as a family any issues can be overcome, we don't ever give up on family.
Paul grew up on a small dairy farm and enjoyed working and playing every day on that farm. Paul learned how to work with farm animals and drive tractors at a young age. Paul enjoyed sled riding and bike riding on the hilly terrain of their property. During the summer, Paul and his siblings also enjoyed swimming in their outdoor above ground pool. On the farm, there was never a lack of something to do for fun.
Barb grew up on a small farm also, her family raised cows, chickens, geese and ducks. One of Barb's favorite memories is every summer when she got out of school; her mom would buy about 50 baby chicks, 10 ducklings and usually about 5 goslings. All summer Barb would be busy taking care of those baby animals and loving every minute of it. Barb also always had a couple dogs and some cats to play with too; Barb is a real animal lover.
