| What We Will Tell Your Child About Their Adoption |
We believe in being honest with children about their adoption. We plan to share with our children in age appropriate ways the beautiful story of their adoption. We will also be glad to share any information that you would like your child to know.
The story would start with us dreaming of having a baby and a wish to start a family. A beautiful baby was going to come to us in a very special way. We knew that God had a plan for us, but we weren't exactly sure how it would unfold. Through a special process, we volunteered to be adoptive parents. Your birth mother chose us to raise you because she knew that she couldn't take care of you in a way that you deserved. She believed in us and we believed in her. We wanted you so, so much. We believe that God answered our prayers and that you were meant to be with us. We couldn't be prouder of you. You are such a gift to us.
| Our Strengths as Individuals |
We believe that we are a very strong team and that we complement each other extremely well. Tim is a notably responsible, steady and down-to-earth guy who manages details extremely well. Tim has an engineering background and is good at problem solving. With this experience, his Eagle Scout training, and his strong financial management skills, his role as "family provider" comes easily to him. Tim is also a very sociable and giving person. He likes to give more than he receives. Consistently, he will go to great lengths to be of support to Mary Jo and his extended family, and to spread cheer where it seems needed. If he is having a bad day himself, you will never know it.
Mary Jo is nurturing, sensitive and perceptive. She loves children so much that she became a "psychologist" nearly a decade ago and elected to specialize in pediatric issues, initially. Mary Jo has a wonderful ability to connect with kids of any age. She shines when it comes to bringing out the best in people. She is seen by her family, her friends and her clients as a strong and positive force. She is a very good listener, and she is someone that people tend to see as trustworthy and a good friend. Mary Jo is also a spirited and fun-loving person. She tends to look at the big picture and to think in terms of life's possibilities. She is good at multitasking and she enjoys lots of activity and diversion each day. During times of chaos or uncertainty, Mary Jo maintains a level of steadiness. She copes well in difficult situations and will put others around her at ease.
Our New Friend
While we love our trips to the beach and our annual trip to a nearby lake in the mountains, we can have just as much fun doing every day kinds of things together too. We happen to have some of our best fun on Saturday mornings. That's typically pancake eating time in our house. We love making a big pancake breakfast together and then eating in front of the TV with lots of bananas, blueberries and syrup. After that, we often head to the nearby park so that Michael can have some time on his favorite swing. On the way home, we sometimes stop by the local pet store in order to get a good look at the puppies in the window or the parrots that try to greet patrons. This is often followed by a trip to the nearby Baskin Robbins or Starbuck's. Other favorite family activities include: watching funny movies, taking long hikes and going to outdoor cafes.
We can't wait for summer because we really enjoy the warm weather. We are big on packing a picnic basket and taking in an outdoor concert, and hanging out at the pool. At the end of the day, we like to spend time reading together, catching up on the day's events and discussing future plans. That's when we have our best talks and think about that little baby we can't wait to hold. |
