Our Leisure Time

Visiting a French Chateau

We love our leisure time and take full advantage of weekends, holidays and vacations. Although we both have successful careers, we believe time spent together as a family is a key to health and happiness.

Travel is one of our favorite leisure activities, as this blends both our love of learning with the adventure and excitement of new experiences. Starting with a long weekend trip to Washington DC after we first met and then a week spent in Spain a few months later, we found early on in our relationship that we travel well together. Florence, Barcelona, Paris, Las Vegas, and Cape Cod are among our favorite destinations to date. We can't wait to add a son or daughter to our family and have the opportunity to "show them the world" through travel to places such as England, Ireland, South America, and Australia.

Individually, Dave loves outdoor activities such as running, cycling, kayaking, working in the yard and cultivating the garden. His other hobbies include music, reading history books, attempting new recipes, researching genealogy, and watching college football. He is excited about cheering on the Florida Gators with a new son or daughter!

Christine has a passion for books, primarily fiction and biographies, and reads several books each month. She is excited about sharing her love of books with a new son or daughter by reading to them nightly and making frequent trips to the library. She also has a passion for movies, and each year sees all of the Academy Award nominees before the Oscars. Her other hobbies include photography, baking, shopping, trying new restaurants, and cheering for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Our Family Traditions

Visiting Family

Family traditions are an integral piece of how Christine's large family has remained close over the years. Weddings, special birthday scrapbook pages, a family Web site to post photo albums, a family phone tree, and other activities help to keep family a focus in their lives. In 2000, her family started a tradition of "Sib's Week." Every other year since, the siblings have spent a week together at the lake house of the oldest sister in New Hampshire. Since spouses and children are not present, it allows them to be carefree and connect with one another again.

One particular tradition, a holiday gathering at a mountain lodge in Pennsylvania, is currently in its 12th year. Each sibling celebrates Christmas with their own family, then from December 27th-30th Christine's parents, siblings, their spouses, and children stay at the lodge. The lodge has so many rooms and beds, including a bunk room for kids, that the entire family is able to stay under one roof. Each family is assigned one meal to prepare, and cooking for 35+ people is a fun, unique experience.

The younger nieces and nephews count down the days until they arrive at the lodge and can spend time with their cousins. The time passes quickly with activities including opening presents, watching movies, playing pool or ping pong, and putting on plays or musical performances. Outdoor activities include hiking around the frozen lake, ice skating and sledding, and going into town to check out the local shops and bookstore.

We look forward to sharing these family traditions, as well as creating our own new family traditions with a child.

Our Passions

Vacation in Florence, Italy

We each share a passion for learning and knowledge, which has continued long after we finished our formal education and degrees. Today our love of learning is focused on life, experiences, culture and people.

Each year we enjoy a variety of plays, shows, symphonies and concerts. We are fortunate to live in the metropolitan New York City area with all of the available cultural opportunities. David's company also encourages support of the arts by offering free admission to every museum in the city for its employees and their immediate family.

We love to travel, see new places, experience different cultures and broaden our horizons. We have traveled extensively in the United States and Europe, including Italy, France, and Spain. Watching a travel show or reading a book for us does not compare with actually visiting another country, sampling the food, interacting with locals and attempting to use our basic Spanish, Italian or French. Maps of both the United States and Europe hang in our home office with multiple pins marking where we have been and all the great destinations we have yet to experience.

In addition to travel and cultural events, our other passions also incorporate some level of learning and personal enrichment. Reading, watching movies, attempting a new recipe, going out to new restaurants, and cultivating our garden are all activities we enjoy and share together. Finally, we are passionate about cheering our respective college football teams and spending time with our families.
