Volunteer Work

Duane volunteers as the head coach for the boys and girls club for many years. He is dedicated and enjoys instilling not only the love of the game to children but the discipline, enjoyment, sportsmanship and old fashion fun. His team has won the championship three out of the past four years and various tournaments. He also volunteered to be one of the coaches for the local high school football team.

Rosetta, as an active member of the Continental Societies Incorporated, provided support to financially disadvantaged children. We educated them and provided support in the following categories: Health, Education, Employment, and Recreation. Rosetta also volunteers as a board member on the Home Owners Association for their neighborhood. As a board member, not only do we support the community but we bring them together by creating social activities especially for the children.

Our Favorite Vacation Spots

Ready to Cruise

We vacation at least twice a year but during the past few years we decided to go on cruises. Our first cruise was to celebrate our Aunt's 90th birthday. She was a vibrant and lovely woman and barely looked 70 years old. We had the best time in our lives. We spent a lot of time with the family and relaxed. It was memorable because we typically go on vacation with each other and now we spent a lot of time with our family.

Norwegian Pearl Mexico Cozumel

Cruising is so convenient and exciting. We have the option to stay on the cruise ship with all its amenities - bowling, jogging trail, dancing, Captain Balls, bingo, water waves, swimming, and many more activities. We also have the options to port and visit various locations. This gives us the opportunity to have the mini visit and later decide whether we want to spend a week on that particular island during our next vacation.

We have been to various islands and plan to vacation late next year to celebrate our nephew's high school graduations. As this will take a lot of coordination, we are very excited because both sides of our family are planning to vacation together. We will have over 20 family members vacationing with us.

Our Pets Are Important in Our Lives

Coco and Brownie

Coco and Brownie came into our lives at a very good time. After our Maltese (Othello) passed away, we decided to wait a while before adopting a dog. We quickly realized after 15 years of having Othello it was difficult not having him follow us throughout the house, greet us like it his first time seeing us or cuddling with us, so the natural thing for us was to get another dog. We first tried to go through the county and adopt a dog. Well, after several months of leaving work early to get on a list and after disappointments, we decided to answer a newspaper ad. We drove 1 and a half hours away to get a Lhasa Apso puppy. We met the couple and had to make a decision on which puppy we should take. It was difficult because it was almost 7 puppies to choose from. They were all so adorable and we wanted to take them all home. To our astonishment, we ended up with two dogs. I would never forget the ride home. I didn't want to take Coco and Brownie out of our laps. They were so nervous they threw up in our car. Once we arrived home, Coco was so shy and Brownie was jubilant.

As Brownie matured, she is very quiet and observant, while Coco is very high spirited and playful. It's funny to think of our journey to get Coco and Brownie and how our lives have changed. They are so much a part of our lives. Each day they show a very distinct part of their personalities. Naturally, they are so happy when our nieces and nephews come over to visit. They spend a lot of time running around our backyard with them. I know they can't wait to have a child to run and play with in our house. They are so affectionate, playful, and love their bellies rubbed. Last year, we went on vacation and decided we didn't want them far away from us. We decided to put them in the Petsmart Hotel just 1 mile from the beach. We had the opportunity to pick them up everyday and walk them on the beach and spend time with them during our week vacation. They are happy, healthy and loving dogs and very much apart of our lives.
