We met while we were both in the military stationed in Japan. After getting married we discovered how difficult a dual service household would be. After much discussion about our options, we found out that Chris is more a Marine than Michelle was a Sailor. After Michelle's contract was up after 8 years of honorable service, she got out of the Navy and pursued her civilian career. Chris has continued his service to the Marine Corps for the past 17 years and only has a few more years to retirement, if that's what we decide to do. Fortunately during deployments, Chris is out of harm's way and gets to sleep in a bed (even though too short for him). During these times we have seen much success in our lives as a military family. We are able to travel, meet new friends and even bump into some old ones. We feel that our military background has shaped our lives and values into being caring and compromising towards each other, to having patience and compassion for others. It has given us a sense of belonging and pride in our family. We have been able to help co-workers and friends in difficult situations because we listen and not judge. At this time, we are at a command that Chris only has to deploy for 4 months then is home for a whole year. During Chris's deployments we get to chat nearly every day and talk on the phone weekly, maybe several times. The military has taught us that everyone needs help sometimes in their lives; be it helping them move, watching their kids, taking out the pets or they just need someone to listen.
| What We Are Looking Forward To With a Child |
Disney World for Our 10th Anniversary
We are looking forward to sharing our lives with a child, watching them grow into wonderful adults by sharing our experiences and being there through the ups and downs. Together we can't wait to start our own traditions and carry some forward from our childhood. Some of these would be, opening one gift on Christmas Eve, Monkey bread with hot chocolate Christmas morning and sitting down for dinner as a family. Chris is looking forward to starting his own tradition, "Pancake Sunday's with Dad". We are both excited to begin the nightly rituals of bath time, bedtime stories and goodnight hugs and kisses. We are eager to teach to them how to ride a bike, play board games, dress up for Halloween or have a lazy Saturday morning watching cartoons.
As individuals, Michelle is enthusiastic about teaching them how to read, cook, plant flowers and how to swim. Chris is looking forward to showing them how to play different sports, how to be independent, and the world of SciFi. We hope to raise them to be kind, respectful adults with self-confidence to go after their dreams and as parents to help them to pursue their dreams.
Chris Lounging with Our Dogs, Adama and Zuzu
We love to relax and enjoy spending time together, along with our dogs Adama and Zuzu. We love taking them to the dog park to run around and play chase with the other dogs. At home we play Frisbee in the backyard or keep away in the house. Zuzu, the princess, she is the talker and loves to wrap up in a blanket on our laps. Adama, the big baby, loves to play fetch, play hide and seek or just lay on your feet (lap if you let him), also he has received professional obedience training. We love our dogs and would do just about anything for them, there is nothing like the unconditional love they give to us every day (and wet kisses!). We are excited to watch Adama and Zuzu shower a child with as much affection as they shower us with.
On the Ferris Wheel
As a couple we like to play games like UNO, Farkle (dice game), and video games or just recline on the couch with a movie and Cold Stone. We like to go to the movies and out to eat, just as a couple or with a group of friends. We also have our own hobbies that we take joy in doing as individuals. Chris enjoys riding his motorcycle, talking about SCI-FI stuff with friends but his passion is playing and watching basketball, he would love to coach one day. Michelle is an avid reader of different categories of books, she takes pleasure in gardening and beautifying the house but she loves to make homemade goodies, Chris takes them to work often. We are eager and enthusiastic to share our passions and to explore new ones with your child. |
