Our Favorite Vacation Spot
In the Outer Banks

Almost every summer we vacation in the Outer Banks in North Carolina, usually with Eileen's family. Different people join us at different times; one memorable year was when her cousin's family joined them with their son. We had a blast with him flying kites on the beach, swimming in the pool, and seeing the dolphins on a dolphin watch.

Outside the Vacation Home in Outer Banks with Family and Friends

There are wonderful beaches, and plenty of things to do, such as visiting lighthouses, miniature golf, going our for ice cream, or taking a ferry to Ocracoke Island for the day.

Chloe has been able to come along two times already. We are looking forward for her to have a sibling to join in the fun. It is a beautiful, family-friendly place to visit.

Our Pets
Harley, Our Rabbit

We gained a new member in our household in July of 2011; Harley the rabbit! We had a wonderful rabbit named Butterscotch who lived to be 10 years old! Unfortunately, he passed away when Eileen was pregnant with Chloe. We really missed having a pet. So, since Chloe is a little bigger now, we decided the time was right to help another bunny in need. Eileen found an animal rescue organization that led us to Harley.

He is very playful. Chloe and he get along great. She brings him his toys, and is very gentle with him.

We think pets play a great role in family life. They teach us responsibility. They depend on us to take care of them. The rewards are worth it. Children can learn a lot by having a pet around. They learn to respect animals and how much care they require.

We are very lucky to have had him hop into our lives!

How We Will Tell the Child About His/Her Adoption

If we are lucky enough to receive a child through adoption, we want them to know how they came to be in our lives. Eileen is lucky enough to have worked with a woman who was adopted, and two people who placed their child for adoption. It really opened up her eyes how vital it is for a child to know who their birth parents are.

We feel it is important for that child to know the decision their birth parents make was a hard one, but done out of love for that child, and the hope they would have a wonderful life and family. It is one of the most selfless acts there are.

We will answer questions they may have and above all help them realize they are loved and how special they are.
