Our Leisure Time

Football Rivals
We enjoy mostly the "simple" things in life. We enjoy traveling and vacationing, mostly to nearby sites. One of our favorites has been South Dakota; we love The Flinstones at Bedrock City! We are so excited to travel here again with a child, as well as to Storybook Island, and Reptile Gardens. We vacationed there with our 2 other children when they were young and they had a blast. We are looking forward to doing this again soon! We also enjoy watching our daughter Kayla's sporting activities and traveling to all her games and dance performances and competitions. During the summer months we enjoy camping, fishing, boating, jet skiing, and just spending time outdoors. We have a wonderful group of friends and family that we camp with on a regular basis. We also enjoy grilling on our deck, planting flowers, playing with the dog, watching the neighborhood kids jump on our trampoline and running through the sprinkler, playing basketball, volleyball, going for long walks and bike rides - anything we can to just enjoy the sunshine! During the winter months we enjoy sitting in front of the fireplace watching movies together as a family. We also enjoy watching NFL football games; Leonard for the Vikings and Kayla and Dawn for the Broncos. We enjoy going sledding down the sled hills, making snowmen and having snowball fights. We are looking forward to creating memories with your child and being able to do all the things we enjoy with a child and his/her "big sister."

Cultural Diverstiy

We plan to provide as much love, support, encouragement, and education that we possibly can when it comes to different cultures. We plan to teach your child about their culture as well as other cultures and to hopefully provide your child with the understanding that culture is a part of each and every one of us, that we all have different cultures and different beliefs, and that all cultures are a part of us. We want to instill goodness in who we are, that we should be proud of who we are, where we came from, and who our family is. We plan to address any issues that arise about culture diversity very openly and in any way possible that will help your child understand, be comfortable with and be proud of their culture. We are very strong believers that we are all created equal, we may look different, talk different, act different, but we are all equal and all deserve the same respect. We will be strong for your child and know that we have the support from our family and friends as well. We will provide your child with whatever we can to make them happy, proud and strong believers in who they are.

Our Daughters

Shaina and Kayla Hanging Out

Leonard has a daughter, Shaina, whom he adopted from a previous marriage. Her biological father died in an ATV accident before she was born. He adopted her at age 2 and has been there for her since. Growing up Shaina lived with her mother but spent summers and holidays with us. She enjoyed spending time with Kayla and vacationing and fishing with us when she spent summers with us. She is now 22-years-old, married, and lives in North Dakota. We have a close relationship and get to visit quite frequently.

Dawn has a daughter, Kayla, who is also from a previous relationship. Her biological father lives in North Dakota and she visits him as often as she can. She is now 16 and is very busy with sports and school activities. Leonard has been in her life since age 5 and has been a "second" father figure to her. Kayla does quite well in school and has been involved in almost every sport possible; from soccer, racquetball, basketball, volleyball, swimming, as well as pop/jazz dance. She is very excited about our adoption and becoming a "big sister." She has been waiting to be a big sister for quite some time now and is getting very anxious!
