We are both extremely excited to be parents this is something we have wanted for a long time and discussed in great detail. We assure you that your child would be the center of our world. He/she would receive our love, support, and encouragement. We would provide your child with all the opportunities for personal growth, education, and close family relationships possible. Selecting us to be your child's parents would enrich our lives more than we can describe. We would be forever grateful for this opportunity.

Relaxing in Our Backyard
We enjoy spending our leisure time together. This includes many activities around the house such as reading, and yard work. We enjoy reading both fiction (mysteries and suspense stories) and non-fiction books (autobiographies, biographies and historical stories). Reading stories to our child is something we both look forward to with great anticipation. Our home is located on a two acre lot and is in a state with a mild climate. This gives us many months of enjoyment planting flowers and caring for the yard. We have added a tree each of the years we have lived here. Relaxing on our patio and enjoying the fruits of our labor is very rewarding. Watching the many varieties of birds attracted by our trees, feeders and fountain on the patio provide hours of enjoyment for us. Our favorites are cardinals, gold finch and especially humming birds. We like to take scenic drives especially in the fall when all the wonderful colors of the trees and foliage are at their peak.
Going out to dinner with friends is a monthly activity. Each couple takes turns selecting the restaurant so as you might expect this can be very interesting. Due to this we have experienced a wide variety of foods that we may not have tried otherwise. We always look forward to the next month's adventure.
We also attend church and participate in many of the extracurricular activities it provides. This may include a group trip to a ballgame, helping cleanup around the church, volunteering on the church-sponsored Habitat for Humanity builds, or attending our respective men's or women's group meetings.
| How Adoption Has Affected Our Lives |
Adoption has affected us personally in a very positive way. Our niece was adopted as an infant and is now a seventeen year old young lady. It hardly seems that could be possible already. Her mother made the difficult decision to place her for adoption and choose her adoptive parents through an agency much the same as the program at American Adoptions. Her parents are very supportive of our efforts to adopt and have shared with us how rewarding and fulfilling the adoptive process has been.
As the first grandchild of her generation (and now one of six) she was an enormous addition to our family and continues to be a vibrant part of all family functions. The joy she brought to her parents is immeasurable. They were unable to have their own biological child and turned to adoption. This proved to be a wonderful decision. Her adoption allowed them to start the family that otherwise would not have been possible. It is hard to imagine what our family, especially her parent's life, would be like without her.
We now turn to adoption as well after our own struggles. We can only imagine how difficult a decision this must be for a birth mother. The courageous choice of adoption will give us the chance to begin our family and provide love and a secure home for a child.
We are both dog people. Each of us had dogs while growing up and we have had a dog our entire married life. Our beautiful dog is a black Labrador Retriever named Cadbury. We got her when she was three from Kari's cousin (the same cousin that introduced us).
Cadbury is an important part of our family. She is a constant companion for Kari who is a stay at home housewife and for Jeff coming home after work to see her is refreshing. She is always so excited whenever we come home after being gone if only for a short time to the store.
A dog forms their own very unique personality. Cadbury has certainly done this she has her normal routine and habits just like any human being. She is scared of lightning and thunder so storms during the summer are eventful. Cadbury's bed is in the bedroom next to ours so when a storm comes at night many times we have to move to the living room with lights on to ease her fears. When we travel by car she is always with us and is usually the first one in the car. We cannot imagine being without her. The times we have travelled without her both of us are anxious to get back home again. The bond that has grown between the three of us is very strong.
