Since we are open to a mixed race adoption, we feel very strongly that it is important to foster a strong connection to a child's ethnic identity so he or she will feel attached and understand where they came from. We live in a large city that provides many opportunities to educate and expose a child to different festivals, educational activities, and opportunities to interact with people who are culturally connected to them. We are also open to seeking out advice and attending parenting classes to help us navigate through any issues that may come up so we can deal with them appropriately and help a child feel connected to us, but also proud of his or her cultural background. Our family and friends are so ethnically diverse, we will surround a child with many other cultures and people and hope to teach him or her that they are an important part of our global society. We would also take a child to see the country where his or her ethnic roots are so they can really appreciate and fully connect with their ethnic identity.

Chauntelle and Sister Heidi Finishing First Half Marathon!

We lead an active life full of friends, family, and doing things we enjoy. Chauntelle just completed her first half marathon and continues to train for other local runs. We just signed up to do a local run together where we will run a 4K along the beach and participate in obstacle courses set along the beach. We work hard during the week and look forward to hanging out with friends and family on the weekend. Chauntelle loves to cook and we often invite the two families that live in our building down for Sunday dinner. Chauntelle looks forward to teaching a child how to cook and bake for our family and friends. When possible we love to get away to a beach for vacation. We are ready to take vacations as a family and play on the beach with a child and chase the waves. We also can't wait to take a child to Disneyland for the first time to meet Mickey and his friends. Greg is also looking forward to going to hockey games as a family and teaching a child how to appreciate other sports like football and basketball. A child that comes into our family will have a life full of activities, travel, friends, food, and family.

Greg and Our Fuzzy Babies, Phroto and Kirby

We both had dogs before we met, but since we have been together our dogs have been a constant source of love and joy. Greg rescued his dog Kirby about 10 years ago and Chauntelle found Phroto as a puppy. They are both loving fuzzy creatures and would make very good "big brothers" for a child. Since we don't have children yet, the dogs have been our children and we have learned how we will be as parents, since they are so dependent on us. Our dogs have filled our hearts with love and have somewhat prepared us for parenthood. They both love children and we are anxious to introduce them to a child and their future playmate!
