Enjoying a New England Autumn Day
We owe our first fateful encounter in 1999 to our mutual love of dogs and a gorgeous German Shepherd patrol dog named Xanto. Christine was a dialysis nurse and Vinnie was a K-9 Officer working in the hospital security department. Vinnie noticed Christine and used Xanto to open up that first conversation. That conversation was followed by many more, which made them both realize how much they had in common. Vinnie finally asked Christine out, and they had a great first date at a cozy restaurant on a cold December night. The conversation flowed and was followed by many interesting and exciting dates, including hiking, day trips, dinners, movies, concerts, and trips to the theater. Both families met early on in the relationship, and immediately hit it off amazingly well. They all remain extremely close to this day.
Our Matchmaker
We were married in May 2003, with Vinnie in a full dress kilt in respect to Christine's Scottish heritage. Family and friends flew in from Scotland, Italy, Greece and Canada to celebrate this very special day, with many families, friends, and friends' children taking part in the ceremony. It was a glorious day, followed by a fabulous honeymoon to the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia.
We'll always be grateful to Xanto for bringing us together.
So Many Pumpkins. So Little Time
Our family traditions not only include our family, but also our friends, who are just like family to us.
Every year, we celebrate the Fourth Of July at Christine's dad's house. This tradition has grown in size with many new additions to the family. The day starts with a barbecue and pot luck dinner. Christine's dad has finally retired from his grilling duties, handing over control to Vinnie, who loves every minute of it. After everyone has had a great meal, we gather on the front lawn for a spectacular view of the fireworks, which are launched from the high school field across the street. We love to see the expressions on all the kids' faces as they watch the fireworks go off. Everyone looks forward to this party all year, and we always have an amazing time.
Apple Picking
Every fall (our favorite season) we love to go apple and pumpkin picking, end enjoy all the little "extras" the day has to offer, such as sampling hot cider, freshly made donuts, and whatever pie looks good. After we've selected our perfect pumpkin, we always love to have friends back to our house to carve jack o' lanterns, and roast pumpkin seeds. It's always nice to hear compliments about our carvings from the people in our neighborhood on Halloween.
Once December rolls around, we look forward to another fun yearly tradition. We gather up some close friends, and head up to a tree farm in the country to select and cut down our Christmas tree. We've been doing this since we met almost ten years ago, and it's special to us each time. The day is never complete without a good snowball fight, and some hot chocolate, and it seems as if we get a more beautiful tree every year. Christmas Eve is a special time for us to share as a family, and probably out most important tradition. Each year, we go to Vinnie's parent's house for an old fashioned Italian style gathering with family and a few friends. We enjoy the Christmas Eve meal which consists of several types of fish, and some pasta. After dinner we usually open a few gifts, but always save most of them to open on Christmas morning.
We can't wait to share these traditions, and many new ones with a child.
We both work extremely hard and we look forward to time off to spend together doing the things we love. We can't wait to have a child to share in these special times!
First and foremost, we love to travel and are looking forward to the excitement of exploring new places, near and far, with your child. The thrill of flying to Scotland, Greece or Italy to spend time with relatives and friends, diving into the culture, traditions, foods, and exploring new areas is something that continues to open our minds, and would be so enriching for a child. Closer to home, we look forward to weekends, and even day trips to hike, bike, fish and camp at places such as Block Island, Cape May, Newport, Philadelphia, Cape Cod, the Delaware shore, and our local state parks. We anxiously await the day we can pack up as a family and visit Disney, Sesame Place, and all the other places that will create wonderful childhood memories.
We love our time in our home as well, and look forward to sharing with your child the value in spending quiet time together working to create a wonderful home. Planting flowers, weeding, tending to the lawn and our vegetable garden, and decorating the house for holidays are important to us. We often love to end these days with a quiet and relaxing evenings watching old movies, reading, solving crossword puzzles, or having family and friends over to play board games and enjoy a home cooked meal.
