Our Hobbies

Heather Received Her Horse, Zu, for Her 16th Birthday. They've Been a Team Ever Since.
Rob likes to work with his hands. He's built so many things around the house; a trellis in the garden, a picket fence, and last winter, he installed a new wood floor in the playroom! He also likes cooking, playing with our dogs and fishing in the rivers near our home. He learned to fish from his own father, and looks forward to passing on that hobby to a child. Heather has been riding horses ever since she was a little girl, and it's still one of her favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors. She also loves reading, and can't wait to read to a child in her lap. We both love gardening, hiking, and spending as much time as we can outside. We have a big backyard, and someday hope to help a son or daughter grow their own pizza in our garden; tomatoes, peppers, basil, oregano ... and then we'll bake and eat it together!

Type of Education We Will Provide

We feel that a good education is the key to finding one's place in the world. This may mean different things for different people. Heather went straight to college after high school, because she knew that what she wanted to do would require a high-level education. For Rob, that wasn't the right thing - he spent a few years in the Army, finding out who he was and what he wanted before returning to school for his degree. When their lives led them to want more, first Heather and soon Rob went back to school once again. Heather just finished graduate school, and Rob will soon begin. A child in this family will be encouraged to find his or her own path, and will know that education will help him or her to excel in that path. We'll guide a child to make the choices which will fulfill his or her own dreams.

Our Favorite Vacations

Our Favorite Vacation Spot : DISNEY!
One cool thing about our family is how much we've seen of the world. Together, we've lived in Virginia, Germany, Texas and Missouri, and visited more than thirty countries - and we've taken every opportunity to see as much as we can, wherever we go! From hiking in the Missouri Ozarks to sailing down the Rhine River in Germany, we can always find beautiful sights, great people and fun things to do. We're also crazy about Disney! We went to Disney World in Florida for our honeymoon and since then, we've been to Disneys in California, Paris and Tokyo. Expect that one day you'll see photos of the child we all love wearing Mickey Mouse ears!
