Enjoying a River Sunset
From the beginning of our relationship, our family's river cottage has been a part of our life. It has been in Ellen's family for 50 years. Our extended family comes from near and far to unwind, and play. We love spending time there fishing, watching sunsets, kayaking, water skiing, swimming, relaxing on the pier with a book, or playing games on the screened in porch. We have so many special memories there.
Callie is Ready to Jump Off the Pier
When we first met, my grandfather took us fishing on his old wooden boat "The Queen Bea," and my grandmother caught more fish than both of us. The river is a blast for summer holidays like the 4th of July and Memorial Day, where we gather with our neighbors to watch fireworks. We love playing with our nephews and nieces in the water and on the beach. It is a great place to learn to swim and play in the sand. We are so blessed to have this relaxing summer cottage in our lives, and we can't wait for it to be a memory maker for your child.
Our dog loves going to river and heads straight for the water as soon as she gets out of the car. She jumps off the pier after a tennis ball and makes a huge splash. She likes to watch her "daddy" fish and swims under the pier in circles waiting for a wiggly croaker to be reeled in.
| Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other |
We're All Smiles at the Beach
Ellen about Josh: Josh is my best friend. Whenever I'm with him, I'm home. He is my favorite person on the planet. There are so many things I love about him. He is caring, hard working, honest and strong. But most of all I love his sense of humor. He is hilarious and has the best laugh of anyone I know. We have so much fun together no matter what we're doing. There's just something about him that always makes me feel safe and content. If I've had a rough day, he knows exactly how to get me smiling. We make a great team, and we share responsibilities equally.
Fishing with Callie at Sunset
Josh about Ellen: Ellen is the most loving and positive person I know. It is easy to love her with her big heart and warm smile. She is always willing to help others. I admire the way she is devoted to her students and her school community. I cannot wait to see her with this child because she is a natural with children.
There are lots of things we enjoy doing together. In the summer on vacation at the beach, we take long walks, fish, chase the crabs at night, and throw football. In the colder months we enjoy snow skiing, and when we get home we'll sit by our cozy fire and watch a movie. Ellen always makes the holidays special because she'll give me a cute card or gift from the heart that means a lot to me. She is the love of my life and my angel.
Loving on Callie
We were married 2 months when we got our doggie daughter Callie who is now 7. Josh's little cousin named her. She is the sweetest Chocolate Lab, and brings us so much joy. We love to spend time together "as a family" throwing her tennis balls in our back yard. She loves playing catch, swimming, taking long walks, and snuggling with us. At Christmas, she gets some special toys in her stocking and even got to visit Santa this year! We think she asked for biscuits and bones. It makes us smile when she raises her ears so intently when we talk to her. She loves it when our family and friends come over, and wants to be in on the action. Our nephew Connor even learned how to say "Callie" before our names. Grammie (Ellen's mom) has to get a kiss from Callie as soon as she comes over and refers to her as her "grand-dog." Callie would say she's a lucky little girl to have such a super close family. |
