We are blessed to have a little girl named, Marta who just turned 4 years old. Marta has opened our eyes to just how wonderful parenting is and how much joy children bring to your life. This has only reinforced in us the deep desire to parent another child, and that our family is not yet complete.
Marta is a loving, sweet spirited little girl who is thrilled with the idea of having a sibling. We have discussed adoption with her and she frequently asks, "Mommy and Daddy, when will my baby brother or sister get here?". She is as excited as we are to begin this wonderful journey and will welcome a new sibling to love with open arms.
Marta is an outgoing child who started pre-school this year and really loves the interaction with other children. She is also involved in dance classes and just started pre-school soccer. Our goal is to provide her and any other children we would raise with many chances to live life to its fullest. Your child would certainly have all of these opportunities and we look forward to the adventures they will have together. Another child would double the fun!
Family Christmas Dinner
Traditions in our family tend to revolve around the holidays which we always celebrate to the fullest. There are always big family gatherings with lots of good food and fun. At Christmas time we listen to Christmas carols and have a pizza party while we decorate the tree. We seem to celebrate Christmas 3 times over with Christmas Eve at Chris' parents, Christmas morning spent at home in our Pjs watching Marta's eyes sparkle with the magic of Christmas as she opens her pile of gifts that Santa brought. She also tries of find the special gift box that has baby Jesus inside so that she can add him to the manger scene. Christmas evening we head to Lori's Mom's to have Christmas dinner and celebrate all over again! Easter is also a fun time that we celebrate with Meemaw's annual Easter egg hunt in her big yard. We feel that these special times are what makes family memories that will last a lifetime. We would love to have another child to experience all of this with.
Fun Times at Church Mission Week
Our family has strong Christian beliefs and we are very involved in our Presbyterian church, where Lori serves as a Deacon. We firmly believe that having a close relationship to the Lord and fellowship with other believers is a vital basis in life.
We belong to a very active church that is full of young families and provides many opportunities to grow and learn together. We belong to a particular group for families with young children which meets twice a month at church to share dinner together. The children are then led to the gymnasium for games and playtime while the adults have bible study. We have made so many close friendships through this group, some of whom also have adopted children and have been a huge resource and support to us as we begin the adoption journey.
Our church also has a week long mission project that goes out into our local community and helps those in need. We have done things like setting up a food/clothing pantry for those who need assistance, completing home repairs for the elderly in the area and the children put together "Easter in August" baskets to be delivered to the residents of nearby nursing homes. There is an annual church picnic complete with a petting zoo, pony rides and a 100ft long ice cream sundae for the kids.
We feel that our faith and involvement in the church has been such a blessing to our whole family and your child would also have the opportunity to take part in all of this.
